|
|
My number one priority for a Blu-ray player to go with my non-hdmi receiver is that it have the 8 discrete analog outputs for 7.1 audio. I care less about streaming or upscaling for this unit than I do about basic performance with a blu-ray disk.
I have come only a few units that have this feature in the $200 + price range. The Panasonic DMP-BD85 is one that appears decent, but I was wondering what other units have this feature. It seems that Sony had it in the S550 but took it out in later models. I'm not sure if there are really very few models like this or if I am just not finding them.
Are there any other users that also have this requirement that could comment?

I would go with the Oppo BDP 83. Its more money but considering the HDMI changeling effect look for a player that gets regular firmware updates.
Never liked the fact that a blu ray player needs access to the internet to just work...
