If the tubes are clean in the 1000-hour machine, then that's like getting a $500 G70 with a $200 backup parts machine... That would be a good deal and a HUGE upgrade from what you have. If the tubes are worn... Not so much.

maximize raster and project a full white screen then select red green blue separate to look for the wear on the screen and see if you can live with it.
if they used maximized raster (mostly they do not) you will not see a transition from used to unused phosphor.
in that case take off the lenses and shine with a flashlight on the tube face to see the wear.
use the following link as a reference.

I assume I know who the seller is... Considering your travel time, he should be perfectly capable of taking off the lenses and snapping some decent photos for you to review. I wouldn't even consider making the trip without photos unless they were for parts machines only. That is a good price, though.

Yes. I'm looking into which firmware you have

You have the latest firmware.

Let's try bypassing the monoprice switcher.

Run your bluray into 1/A on the HDFury3 and your TS-160 into the 2/B input and set the HDFury3's selector switch to auto. Power up the TS-160 and give it a try

By the way, are you using a DVI to HDMI cable or an HDMI to HDMI cable with a DVI adaptor on the TS-160?

This may be your problem. Is there anyway you can bring your equipmet closer to the projector for testing?

Also DVI to HDMI adaptors will tend to drop the signal voltage and cause issues. That combined with the long cable run may be causing your problems. We need to test to see.
