As you see from first picture tubes are taken from 808s Retro Block, those are made for rear projection applications.
Probably lenses are from same block. Hope those are for big enough screen, because most retro block lenses are only screen width up to 1.6 m or something.
My BG808s LC is made using BG1200 HD10 optics.

So, if it's an BG808s LC, then the machine is essentially the Cine 8 Onyx or the Pro 1200x that Barco built for Zenith... But, the 1997 manufacture date is too early for that...
So, did it start life as a stock 808s+IRIS2, then modded to have the Sony tubes and LC optics with HD117's added, plus the retroblock magnetics, essentially making it a Cine 8 Onyx?
Either way, looks like a nice machine!

Umm... I'm no Barco guy, but what is up with the electrical tape hack job on the HV lead? Did you buy it that way? It looks like it's way too long, and it doesn't have the PVC insulating sleeve like the others. I don't think I'd even try to turn it on until I got a different HV lead to replace that one.

Yes I buy it that way. I have it powered up but the there are many sparks to the metal case...
The projector runs with that hack job 2 years... don't know how it can work...

Your missing what Ile is saying. look at the part number in your first pic. It says "Retroblock" that means someone took the tubes from the Retroblock projector and put them into an 808s. It was an easy to do modification.

That lead needs to be replaced with a good HV lead. Its unlikely that you will solve the short to earth any other way. The fact that someone covered it in tape suggests it has a problem.

Few of these 808 diy LC conversions using retro tubes and lenses are covered in this forum.
Here's one of the first thread in forum.

Pictures seem to be missing...
Problem with Retro lc optics is that there is no colored c-elements available for HD117 series. Rumour tels that green was made but newer actually seen one in market.
HD21* lens series have both colored c-elements, but those have different radius so you need also HD21* series lenses with them. These are used in G70, Zenith PRO 1200x and Barco Cine 8 Onyx. Also these are pretty hard to find.

Oh, and I have an 808 and an 808 Retro in my shed.
I have enough bits to make an 808 LC.
But I don't have a good green tube. And you can't get filtered C elements....it's easier to just get a filtered LC projector like an XG LC, or G70, etc.
But if anyone in Oz wants to have a go, let me know.
