like in the topic, has anyone ever tried this.
when looking into the tube faces the most noise is noticeable in the red, does this have anything to do with the red cable having to travel more to get to the vnb?

Hello
All the VIM cables are the same length. Try isolating the red cable from any G2 lines held in the little clips; G2 is 500+ volts and could inject noise into the VIM cables.

the tested and proven method is to replace the VIM cables with high quality Belden mini-coax. Bear in mind the Belden mini is still twice as thick as the original cables.

if anyone has the little connectors and the cable i would like to buy from them.
the little connectors arent available in europe, and any high grade coax will do i guess.
is the cable used in the marquee 50 or 75ohm impedance.

i mailed them and asked for the measurements if the pin diameter is 1.7mm i will order a bunch. |
Might be too deep, would you be able to get the neckboard cover on with that in place?
Somewhere on this forum or AVS, is a link to the correct mini connectors. I checked my files but it looks like that was some of the info I lost on a hard drive crash a few years ago.

i know of the connect tech connectors but they look flimsy.
getting them on the vnb isnt a problem i will drill a hole in the cover plate but getting them on the vim and sliding the vim back in without damaging something might be more difficult.

The connectors on the Marquee are mini RCA not the standard RCA connector. Very hard to find. The ultimate cable option is in thread:
https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=19289.html
In any case remember to keep the three cable lengths the same.

The SMB cables are available in 50 and 75 ohm versions. I'm not sure what the impedance of the Marquee cable is. The red and green VIM outputs are back terminated with 24 ohm resistors so neither 50 or 75 ohm cable is exactly right. The blue VIM output is back terminated with 75 ohms and the neck cards are input terminated with 75 ohms so 75 ohm cable would be correct there.
A couple of screws and a few nuts loosened and removed and the neck card heatsink will come right off. Be careful with the transistor nuts. Too much torque can break the four little leads.

hi scott i have been looking for the connectors for the vim and vnb like in the pictures but all the models i find are with 4 legs instead of 2, where did you find them?
once i have a source where i can buy the plugs connectors and appropriate cable 75ohm with the lowest damping factor i will buy enough for at least 4 pjs.
if anyone is interested maybe we can share costs when buying in bulk.

Pope coax was used in early (analog chassis) Barco's. Pope (originally an Philips business) in Venlo was bought out by Belden, wich now has its Euro HQ in Venlo.
