Hi,

I'm back at playing some Xbox 360 games so I set up my Marquees to play. Resolution is 720p60 and one projector exhibits a very weird behavior: the red color is not totally stable.

It "shakes" horizontally a bit especially in the top left of the screen (my projector is ceiling mounted). Green and Blue are solid but red shakes. I NULLed convergence electronically and it still shakes.. so basically if you put the convergence grid you see it the red shaking a bit (enough to be noticed).

I've only noticed this behavior at this resolution/refresh rate.

Any ideas/hints?

Hi,

I did perform the following experiments:

- I removed the astig and convergence (for the red tube). Red still moves.
- I swapped the VIM. It still moves.

Upon closer inspection I can see that is not only red that shakes but also green (and possibly blue - although I didn't check).

I plan to:

- Unplug CCM, ACON
- Swap HDM
- Clean CLM contacts, etc.

Changing CLM is my last resort as I'd need to make a backup of the unit before doing so, etc. etc.

Any more ideas?

Hello. My marquee had some mystery shaking when i feedet it with too "tight" timings, ie to small horizontal sync widht, too small porches.. etc. Check those first before you start changing modules.

Andres, you should have removed all CVA cables to check. because if the blue and green move together then it will make it look like red is moving.

If you remove all CVA connectors all grids should stop moving.

Thanks Athanasios - I'll try tonight.

1031: This happens with 720@60 and 1080x820@72. Since the pixel clock is not very high, I just used GTF for those resolutions.

I did a few more tests:

- Unplugged all convergence/stig (in fact I just unplugged the flat head cable connecting the two boards conv + stig) => SAME ISSUE.

- Unplugged ACON + CCM => SAME ISSUE

It looks like it happens on green more severely and I've also noticed that the green has some horizontal noise (like minor glitches that shift lines of the image horizontally).

Definitively it looks like noise.

Ideas before swapping CLM?

i have read that q501 on the hdm can cause some problems, it is a 2n7000 transistor and is on the daughterboard of the hdm.
replace c50 on the hdm too that is a 220uf 160volt cap.
or try soldering the chips on the dpb(daughterboard clm) or clean their pins.

I have not (but I did unplug the stig and convergence boards altogether - so I guess they are not the culprit...). But it seems like a good idea!
