What causes lens focus to shift with heat?

some of the older mostly plastic lenses would shift when they heat up. HD-10's do have some plastic elements other than the c-element. Could this be it? Also, I have seen where people put foam around lenses to avoid light spill or noise that made the chassis hold more heat.

Before you try motorizing a lens, you might try adding a fan blowing over the lenses to cool them. A large fan running at low RPM's would be quiet and might move enough air. Just a thought.

It's definitely important to figure out if it's a specific lens issue - swap the lenses like a couple people have suggested and see if the problem goes away or moves to the other color.
