I finally got around to replacing the glass on the tube housings for my XG, let it sit for 24 hours and then put the Glycol back in. Everything was looking good, a lot of air bubbles but they were gradually going away. The next day, when I woke up, the glycol had developed yellow "patches" around the end, that seemed to get bigger and bigger. By now, the glycol is pretty much all yellow and is unusable. I'm trying to figure out if I used the wrong silicone or simply didn't let it cure enough. I used regular old black silicone that I got at Canadian Tire... I'm guessing this was incorrect?? Anyone know of an online vendor of glycol?
Thanks
Ben

Use GE Silicone II door and window caulk, black. Available at your local home improvement megacenter and maybe the local hardware store.
Cure time for this application should be longer than one day. I'd give it a week.

That's EXACTLY what I used... Blind luck I guess...
So next question - who thinks I'll be OK to just simply drain the glycol and let it air out for a week? Or will I have to remove the glass again, and recaulk?

I can understand using black silicone on the front of the tubes but should we be using a non pigmented silicone on the HV connections? Less chance of the pigment being conductive?

I actually used RTV on the HV connections... This is just the glass/housings...

Just so you all know, Permatex Ultra Black is highly conductive. Very highly.
