Personally I'm still looking for the Dimension of Topless Lambada-Dancing Cheerleaders, but so far no luck...
(Any Sluggy fans in the crowd will get that reference! )

Sorry I havent been able to post guys, the quantum universe for F&#^%D up computers got me yesterday and both the computers I used decided to become 'difficult'. They are now operating within normal parameters.
I didn't get a chance to do much with the 9PG, I got all the capacitor values written down at least so I am ready for ordering those when I find my no power issue.
I have seen people recommend nichicon capacitors...however I am very wary of this as Dell, HP, and Apple (back in 2003-2006) Used several batches of faulty nichicon capacitors in their Dell Models Optiplex SX720, GX270, and the Infamous GX280 (I have 6 bad GX280's out of 16) and HP's Compaq D530 Slim PC...
Now I know that happened a long while ago and everything, but I think I will just stick with the capacitors I have been using.
When I do finish fixing my main computer today Ill be going back to work on the 9PG tonight...
*Note to self: When you know your HDD is going bad.... REPLACE THE DAMN THING! *

First of all, Dell, HP, Compaq etc DO NOT make computers. They make out of date junk that most people mistake for a computer. You could write most stuff down on paper faster. Not to mension the price will make you sh*t yourself when you find out what you couldve built for that amount money.
Secondly, when you were in this dimension with the f***ed up computers, did the 9PG work?
Thirdly, it was recomended to me a few weeks ago to use Panasonic caps.
Forthly, could i get a copy of that capacitor list off you?

Case,
Not a problem, Ill have it PM'd to you later today, I have to input the list into my crappy Dell GX280 (Yes I do own and use a WORKING one , but for how long? )
And panasonic you say eh?
And no, In this computer dimension I had Cliff's G90 Stack
God how bad I wanted to stay there

Mate if i drink enough stout and follow it up with a bottle of scotch i can be in the dimension that has a PC with an ATi Eyefinity video card connected to 6 Barco Reality 909s and some rediculous resolution... But whenever i go there, i seem to come back with a really bad headache....

Geeze who peed in your beer Case? I've been using an HP laptop as my daily driver and full-time business system for the last 2.5 years. I've carried it all around the country numerous times and it's been bombproof. The only problem with it is the crap Vista software on it. And this cost me the princely sum of $600 when I got it, for 2GB RAM and 250GB HD. I've got no complaints about this HP computer...

Okay I have the requested Capacitor list attached below. The list currently includes only the capacitors in the entire LVPS. I will add to it hopefully by Monday. The list is very detailed so you shouldn't have any issues.
Im assuming most who will use the list know how to do soldering work.
And Gary, I have a HP Touchsmart IQ524, it has been working perfect since the day we bought it over a year and a half ago, no complaints here.
Edit: I had to re-upload the text document as a zip, its best viewed in notepad.

Dont take it personally, i dont build laptops. But when it comes to desktop computers, for half the price i can EASILY build 2-3 times the power. I have an ASUS laptop that i bought second hand in 2004, it was purchased new quite some time before that. It is still going strong, and the battery still holds a charge. Ill be suprised if your HP makes 6 years or more, but then it may well do.
When it comes to laptops now, i wouldnt touch anything other than Gigabyte. In my more recent experience, Gigabyte have taken over from ASUS as the most stable and reliable components around. The crap Vista software is more to do with the fact the computer hasnt got the resources to take advantage of it. Put XP Pro on it and itll likely be fine.
All those brand name computers ive ever seen in any computer shop have been built in such a way that upgrading is not economical, they usually have about the best or very close to the best CPU the mainboard's chipset can support without being a bottleneck ( sure you can go much higher, but you wont get any real benefit ), they usually have about half the ram you could use before the limits of the board are reached so adding another stick usually hits the roof, and they are usually not the current technology, hence, a total waste of money to begin with. They can never be made much better than what came out of the box, and that is what happens when you fill a low end mainboard with components that are at or nearly at the top end of it's capabilities, which is exactly what they do.
Next time you go to buy a new desktop computer, price up the parts required to build something with simular capability, and youll see exactly why i say what i do. If you would like me to give you an example, PM me with a mid to high range branded computer and it's specs, and ill do you up a parts list to get prices on. Im not a sales person and have not built computers for other people in a long time due to lack of time. I do still keep tabs on what is working and what is not, and i still build them for myself.

No thanks, I haven't used a desktop since this laptop replaced my emachine. I love having my main system be portable.
I don't doubt you can build a box cheaper and faster than you can buy one from HP or Dell. They're not targeted at enthusiasts who can build their own.

No need to be an enthusiast to put a computer together. Its pretty damn easy, each item only fits were it is meant to go, and its quite obvious without even looking in the book, when its not, the books are extremely well laid out and explain every aspect in very simple easy to follow terms.

no need to be an enthusiast until you cant figure out why something isn't working because said PC builder got confused as to which processor worked with the motherboard he/she/it/they picked out :p

Ok,
I didn't dissapear, I have just been very busy lately. I wanted to give an update on the status of the 9PG.
First, I wont be recapping the boards. The cost is just too high.
Second, I will fix the issue is has, ensure its fixed, and then either sell it or give it away, or possibly keep for a rainy day
I have been scoping out some higher end models, and the price for those vs the cost to restore this unit simply isn't worth it. I am hopeful that within a month I will be the owner of a NEC XG Model projector in much better physical, and functional condition.
and lastly, If I don't get it fixed in time, I will be parting it out. Hopefully it wont go that way though.
It is time to move on to slightly bigger and much better things
the 9PG I have is past its good days...

After all this time, I finally got to the 9PG, the problem was a 4.7 ohm 5W stone resistor that had shorted out. I just happened to have one on hand and put it in and it worked like a charm, the unit once again has power!
new problem....
The projector doesn't want to stay on for more than 10 seconds, the 2 LEDs light up on power up, then the one by the blue defocus switch goes off, but the one in the center stays on and then after about 5 seconds the unit powers down... The back LEDS and the Error panel stay lit, and the LED panel displays 00 until for just a second it displays FF...
What is FF? and any ideas on whats going on now?
