You may remember, I had a complete system reset with my 909 a couple of months ago. It was put down to a random CPU error. My projector guy came a setup the Barco from scratch.

I have been experiencing an irritating intermittent issue since his last visit. If you look at the pic it tells the story. The picture breaks up horizontally in the lower third. It is independent of source. I have done nothing with my Lumagen scaler so I suspect the Barco. It happens non randomly. Certain scenes, worse on bright scenes, cause the problem. If I rewind, it appears in exactly the same spot. It happens only on the 50Hz mem block. 48 Hz is fine. It disappears when I select the menu on the Barco. Then it reappers when I exit the menu.

I have tried altering the contrast and brightness (both now at 60). I have changed the TEXT box selection and tried slow synch.

Any ideas anyone?

Dont use the 50 Hz setting, must be something wrong with that particular entry.

Have you tried removing that entry and creating a new 50 Hz entry?

I now have tried another 50Hz memory block but with exactly the same problem. It does disappear when I bring up the menu but not the text box. It doesn't happen on dark scenes but only on bright scenes.

Could it be a hardware issue but then why would it not occur on the 48Hz block? I am very frustrated at present as this is the latest in a line of issues which appear never ending to me.

We got the answer (I think and hope). My projector guy Roland came up unexpectedly yesterday. We found a part of a disc which produced the effect. We paused at that spot. When he raised the contrast or brightness it got worse and better when they were reduced. It was obviously tied to tube output.

After trying lots of options, it disappeared when astigmatism was set to midpoint. When he redid the astig for the 50Hz block it seems to have disappeared.

Anyone got an explanation as to why the astigmatism should cause this effect?
