|
|
Hello everyone,
I read Guy Kuo's Focus/astigmation guide, and see that there is such a thing called Dynamic Astigmation.
I have done the CPC Magnet astigmation which has done wonders to the focus of the EM beams, but is Dynamic Astigmation available on my projector? Or is it only available on the + or Xtra series of NEC PG Projectors?
Thanks

I saw a PG Xtra with mint tubes out there...and it wasn't that expensive.

Well if I upgrade I want to make it worthwhile.
I think the problem Im having with my focus is due to the raster wrapping around behind itself, I noticed that the part of the Image within the raster thats not over the "wrapped around" part of it is clear as a bell, it is just where it wraps around behind itself.
The amount it is wrapped around is about 1/4 of the raster on the left, and on the right. Is this normal? or is something way out of wack>

what happens when you move it left or right, does it correct? Or is the raster just too big for the image size?
What is the source that you are using?

This can be adjusted out on a PC or if not using a PC then these can be adjusted in some signal processors. Be sure you have dialed in PHASE first.

The raster is a lot wider than the image is, even just the part that doesnt wrap behind itself on the edges. with the wrap around of the raster, the size of the raster would be almost double the width of the image itself, when I move the image (using Image shift), to the right, the left side of the image clears up as soon as its past the wrap around of the raster, and vice versa.
The focus is darn near perfect across the screen except where the raster does its wrap around thing on the left and right, astigmatism is pretty close to spot on.
Damn this raster The picture would be giving me the wow effect if it didnt have that issue, I am very surprised to see this projector produce the image it does considering its 17 years old, which is about 3 years older than my TV I tossed out a little while back (and the picture was putrid on it from all the heavy use it got).
Oye... enough for tonight, Ill go ahead and post a couple pics to better describe what my issue is.
Still kicked 4$$ on halo tonight
And Im using my xbox 360 directly hooked up to the projector via the 360 VGA cable to a VGA-BNC cable , nothing in between.
It works perfect otherwise (as perfect as a 17 year old CRT can get, which isn't far off )

try a different source and see what happens...even try hooking up your xbox with the s-video cable, just to get an idea if this issue exists at all resolutions or inputs.
I have had great success doing a complete factory reset on every NEC I have ever owned...which is around 8 or 9 of 'em. Most will discourage you because they think it will ruin the projector...but these NEC's can get pretty fudged up with regard to geometry etc, so sometimes a re-init does the trick.

If you run the blanking in at the edges that fold over should go away, i had that issue on my 9PG a couple weeks ago and it seemed to go with blanking. Worth a shot anyway. What does adjusting amplitude do for it?

Case,
The blanking has no effect on that as the raster is still behind itself and thus still causing the blurred edges, as for the amplitude that also has no effect either
It is so close to almost perfect and I am being stopped by this
Im not giving up yet, I never will!

Also try changing resolutions. This is most likely a signal timing issue, and not a fault within the set. I'd run 1080i on the PG.
