Yes, 2x10 and 2x6 joist parallel to the floor joist above, with four "U" bolt style hangers bolting directly to the uni-strut (green in the first picture).

I created this recessed tray to conserve ceiling height and route all the cables.

Slowing the fans and adding a duct was suggested but prop type fans don't develop any real static pressure so as soon as you try to get them to move air through a duct of any kind you might as well just remove them entirely.
I like the way you trimmed your mounting. Now I have another little project for my room. Thanks
