I was just giving you a hard time...I could care less... Wink

First of all...google chrome seems WAY faster than Firefox on all of my machines...give it a try. There are only a few remaining bugs in it.

Also, when I google bdk.exe it comes up a few times with Java so it sounds like it might be legit.

Are you getting HDD activity when that process is running? Could it be some sort of indexing software (google search? or virus scanners built-in)?

I haven't used firefox day in and day out for a few years so there is a chance it is just a setting you clicked that opened something you don't need.

Do me a favor...restart...install Google Chrome...live happy.

Greg, no hurt feelings here, I'm definitely not a computer guy.

HDD activity? EDIT : {DOAH hard drive disk} I'm going to assume that means does the number fluctuate and YES it does, it is doing something.

Google chrome, sure I 'll try it but won't it just import whatever problem I'm having anyway?

My quick google search turned up that it also could be part of the Spywad virus.

http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/index.php?showtopic=69535

Download HiJackThis http://test.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis/download

Install the program, run a scan and save the log file.

Post the results of the log file here:

http://www.hijackthis.de/

Take a look at the stuff that it lists as Nasty or Unsafe. If you don't recognize it, it's probably not good.
If it is part of the spywad virus, follow the instructions in the first link.

Dave, download NOD32. its an anti virus program. they have a 30 day trial. i had issues at my work comp with norton. A virus i had must have shut down Norton, and my windows automatic update. But it made me think it was all running normal.
After I downloaded NOD32 and ran it it said i had 20 virus, trojan horses and spy wears. And i needed like 40 Microsoft updates!!!!

Run that, then see what it finds.

then use try the Safari Browser.

Norton is a bloated POS, and most malware will try and block the installation of antivirus software. Hijackthis will show you all the applications/processes/etc currently running and allow you to delete/block the nasty stuff. Its the best diagnosis tool to see what you're infected with.

I did the highjackthis download ran it but it had so many line items and most of looked familiar so i did nothing.

I ran the NOM32 and it found two variants of [krym kry something trojans ] removed them automatically and now the Bdl Bdx stuff is gone and ram is back down to 49% Thumbs Up

I also ran Ccleaner which dropped the Cpu usage down to 2%-15% Thumbs Up

Things look good so far, no unwanted music and no pop ups and fast ,fast, fast, again.

Thanks justtaint and Nashou Very Happy

It can be somewhat imposing with all the processes that it shows running (which are almost all benign), but its great for those times when an antivirus program won't install or chokes. There are a multitude of websites with people that will read your logfile and help guide you to which process is the culprit.

If a virus/trojan won't let you install anything, Panda does have an online scan.
