Okay,

I pulled the system board and yes there are 2 switches and also 2 push button type switches, I flipped the switches back and forth and tried it out and no change... Sad

I should also mention that I never once smelled the "Magic smoke" and nothing smells fried on anything in the entire projector....

also when I turned it on and put my source signal to it, it had problems locking on or something, the image was there then it kind of flicker faded out, hit the input again and it came on like it should, and also my amplitude cannot be adjusted horizontally, vertically yes, but horitzontal it doesnt want to, and the image kind of "wobbles" left to right or expands and contracts about an inch or so on both sides.

Is it dying? If theres more than one issue then I dont know if its worth repairing... such a shame since the picture I had on it was quite nice Sad

If this projector is truly dead then I wont be able to have another CRT for a while, unless someone donates one Razz

What source are you using? if it's Blu-ray have you turned off the 24p function. That might account for the image wiggles, but I don't see how it should affect the OSD.

Im using an Xbox 360 via the VGA Cable and its hooked right to a VGA to BNC cable thats hooked up to the projector.

This thing was fine until I moved it about 15 feet.... now its going crazy Shocked

Has someone played with the G2 on it? Ive been led to believe that can have an impact on how much even focus you can get across the whole tube.

Oh my GOD! Shocked

Who the hell at NEC (They are famous for this too) decided it was smart to put a little red switch on one of the handles under the projector...

I pushed the red button and :O I have my OSD back Very Happy! WOOTIE HOOTIE TOOTIE!!

I am once again in love Smile

*edit* Apparently this is an aftermarket mod that someone made... why? O_o

Have you ever known a little red switch or button that wasn't a problem?

Glad to see it was something easy to fix.

Cool, Beans. Glad to haer it all worked out in the end.

I too have had problems with my OSD but found that mine is related to resolution/refreshrate changes without new entries being made for them. As said earlier..... I just get fuzzy menu screens though, not missing 8)

Sit back and enjoy it.

"Don't push the red button!" Damn thing!

I am so glad I found this out, I actually had to contact the previous owner I got it from, he found it about a week before he sold it to me but forgot to mention it until today when I was finally able to reach him...

Thank you to all who offered suggestions! I also am quite pleased it was just that switch and not something serious.

Now to track down the modder who installed that switch Idea
