My current project is getting my xbox working at HD resolutions on the 1208 using an Extron box.

I have the VGA adapter for the xbox, and I have an Extron RGB 120 to convert the signal to 5BNC and force negative sync.

However, I have not been able to get this solution to work and I believe the reason is because I do not have the correct adapter cable. The extron box uses a 9-pin analog input.

1st I tried an HD-15 to DB9 adapter and it was a no-go, all I got was red.

Then I did some searching and found a post on AVS where a gentleman was using a custom cable he got to work with his extron setup. I made a custom cable that matched his pinout as follows:

1-Not Connected
2-R Gnd
3-R
4-G
5-B
6-G Gnd
7-B Gnd
8-H Sync
9-V Sync

It did not work.

I then tried the VGA-9 pinout on a 2nd attempt:

1-R
2-G
3-B
4-H Sync
5-V Sync
6-R Gnd
7-G Gnd
8-B Gnd
9-Not Connected

It did not work either.

I then tried the analog pinout specified in the extron manual for the RGB 118(could not find the manual for the RGB 120):

1-Not Connected
2-Not Connected
3-R
4-G
5-B
6-Not Connected
7-Not Connected
8-H Sync
9-V Sync

And I am sad to say that did not work either.

If anyone has experience with making the correct cable for these extron boxes, please let me know! And if there's anything special on the box itself I need to do, your advice would be much appreciated.

I have all switches on the front of the box disabled. On the back of the box I have DIP 4 on to force negative sync and DIP 7 on to terminate the analog signal since I am not using a local monitor.

Thanks!

Hello

I can test your Extron box and cable if mailed to me in Phoenix.

Problem solved!

It was just another classic case of 'check pinout twice, solder once'.

I put the H & V on pins 14 & 15 instead of 13 & 14 like I should have. All is well, and HD is now running on the barco woo! For those who may search in the future, I used the Extron pinout posted above.
