Yeah, that's a done deal on the HVPS.

If you could get your hands on one of the early 8000/9000 34kv supplies, it would be perfect to use to figure out which tube is suspect. They're not so easy to short out. If there is a load, it'll start smoking or even spew out brown stuff. It'll do all that and will still not short out the FETs.

Almost every CRT that I've ever came across that had a short, it was a Blue tube.

Interesting about your Blue tube theory,
It is the tube with the least amount of stress.

Guys,

just talked to Andy (UK) and he recommends a Sencore CR-70 or CR-7000

tube tester. anyone got any experience with those?

G1 and G2 shorts can be repaired with these units.

I have used the CR-70 as many have here.
Those will/can clear "grid" shorts. I don't think they can do anything for HV shorts.

OK Chip, I'll get it right this time, it's GRIDS!

My laptop lost post of the image, and it's really hard to see things on it. I'll try and take a screenshot later when
I get back and hopefully someone will know what's causing it.

This time I can blame it on my laptop.. al the other times it's truly my spelling.. Mr. Green

Dang..Surprised I got to get that laptop fixed for sure. I really thought I had typed it all correct the last time.

I've worked on a few LC panels that had ballast type supplies. Maybe that's what's wrong with this one. I'll disassemble later.

guys,

I finally got a Sencore CR7000 unit.

I do have some questions to those that worded on it previously.

I had a quick look through the manual and found P19 tubes

these I found:

CRT Number SKT CRT Type BIAS FIL VOLT F1 F2 GUN K G1 G2

P19LCP07 UA Video2 132V 6.3 9 10 B/W 8 5 6
P19LCP09 UA Video2 132V 6.3 9 10 B/W 8 5 6
P19LCQ37 UA Video2 132V 6.3 9 10 B/W 8 5 6
P19LKH01 UA Video2 148V 6.3 6 7 B/W 10 9 5
P19LKH02 UA Video2 148V 6.3 6 7 B/W 10 9 5
P19LPB03 UA Video1 100V 6.3 9 10 B/W 8 5 6
P19LPJ00 UA/7 Video2 100V 6.3 6 7 B/W 8 11 10
P19LPV01 UA Video2 148V 6.3 6 7 B/W 10 4 5
P19LPV02 UA Video2 148V 6.3 6 7 B/W 10 4 5
P19LQA03 UA Video1 132 6.3 9 10 B/W 8 5 6
P19LQF65 UA Video1 116V 6.3 9 10 B/W 8 5 6

anyone know where a LUG tube fits in there?

what adapter fits a LUG tube ? I do have 5 adaptors in the case

Thanks

Guys,

there was a CD-R with some setup programs included in the box.

It looks like the CD-R is damaged in some places and can't load all the instructions and pictures.

does anyone have a good copy of those programs on the disc, please?

Thanks

So, finally put in a 34kV Power Supply and guess what?

1. install 34kV HVPS
2. power up with splitter only -.ok
3. connected green tube HV only -.ok
4. connected red only -.ok
5. connected blue only
6. video signal connected
7. green & red
8. blue last

all tubes light up!

but HVPS is hot to touch after a short time (MOSFET area)

so we still are undecided in trying the 3rd 34.9 kW HVPS.

what do you guys think?

should we connect the 34.9kV power supply and risk losing a 3rd one?

Thanks

Steve & Michael

Steve, can you see how hot your HVPS gets on the Mosfet side? If yours is also hot then go for it. If yours is cooler, then I would try to find out why its getting hot.

So, temp is up to 35'c after 15mins total 'ON' time.

This is the 34kV HVPS, so is this normal to run hotter?

I think they would run the same temp Steve. Something is amiss. I wonder if the fans on the LVPS are pulling enough air through the HVPS. is there any obstruction on the grates of the body on the HVPS side?

Hey draganm,
Michael the owner is VERY interested to have this solved, with no more damaged HVPS's.

Fans are good on both my and Michael's projector, 120mm x2 fan conversion,
exactly same fans, and sound insulation installed, so no issues there.

Temps stayed at 35'c, so seems like a normal running temp. or not??

Cheers
