Theoretical advantages: Single lens, no mechanical convergence.

Practical disadvantages: High light loss in the optical system, bulky, fragile, electronic convergence still required. High cost of
optical system offsets lower cost of one lens vs. three. Less usable light output for a given set of CRTs than a conventional
three lens, separate light path system.
