Have you heard the recording about the computer service call? I'm not sure if it made it to this forum, but it went the rounds at work. A guy calls up and says his computer won't turn on. The tech on the phone is very professional, asks the guy to verify it's plugged in, etc. etc. Finally, the tech asked if he could read off the serial, and the customer answered "well no, not right now, we had a power outage so the lights aren't on." You hear "bleepity bleep bleep bleep flipping moran and then dial tone. Hilarious!

A friend got sent out to a customer that said his new computer was dead. He could not get any picture.
He got there and the monitor did indeed not show anything. He asked where the computer was because he could not see it. 'The hard drive? It's over there'.
The computer was still sitting in it's original packaging.

A real classic.

You guys are wasting your breath trying to convince him of anything. This same argument is currently going on over on AVS and he has a bunch all pissed off over there. He's even arguing with some experts in the field.

And its the same on forum after forum after forum for years and years and years.

I'm telling you, I really believe its ego posting.

Just google westom or w_tom.

Yeah, sounds like it. What would he get out of it if no one likes the guy? Very strange. You would think being liked and idolized would float his boat.

I don't think any one is arguing against that you need a really good ground and protector if you want to stay relatively safe if a lightning bolt hit your incoming lines.
Or that it is not possible to protect 100%
Or that overly expensive surge protector is a waste of money just like expensive power cables.

The constant CnP, saying that any in-house protector is useless, UPS won't protect at all (which I have seen it do, died in duty), and numerous attacks and attempts to discredit others just because their posts did not fit in with his vision. And the constant refuse to answer key questions posted by members.
That and many other reasons got people a little ticked off. Which generally leads to a downwards moving spiral. And probably some misunderstanding due to wording didn't help ether.

Exactly.
