I definitely prefer the fiberglas case type as I want nothing less than a full gloss metallic finish. In an application like this, I want the case to be glassy smooth and shiny.

If I wanted to I could do any color under the rainbow, with or without metallic glass smooth In plastic. But the reason I want to do plastic is to get away from the gloss and offer that satin black case every one keeps asking about, and do it for a good price.

Satin black works for me. Where do I send my two bills? I could give two shits about metallic colors. The sweet looking case in satin black beats the hell out of modular grey any day.

I am working on the new rubber molds right now, I should have a pic of the first plastic panel by friday. I got the liquid rubber today (6 gallon $89 each) also got the plastic resin, forgot to order black tint though Dam it!
I played around with the plastic resin and I love this stuff hard as hell, yet a little flexible kind of like bending four cd at once. And for you guys still wanting paint, it will not be a problem.
I am still not ready to take anyones money but I will be taking orders soon. I will also be redoing my web page to reflect the final options and price.

For $200, count me in. I love the look of shiny fiberglas, but I like only spending $200 more.

I could not do $600 for the fiberglass case as I need 2. I would not be able to convince the holder of the purse (wife) that 1200 was a bargain for both projectors but 400 for both I can get out of MY wallet. Put me down for 2 plastic in black.

Things are going good, just a little slow. I have been working on the 9'' mold front section, as well as rubber molds. I decided to rework all of the mold surface, and have been filling in the nicks and scratches. This will make the finished product quicker to finish. The eta would be as soon as I can get these things done. I work on this project arround 4 hours a day, and more on weekends. so as you can see I am trying to get this going as fast as I can.

let him know when i start selling these. I will start a new thread with pictures at that time.
As I type this the first plastic cover is being made. I know I said I would have a picture a week ago, but I decided to rework the molds instead. I finished the one side mold this morning and the first cast is in the mold now. well I still have some more rework to do to the rest of them, but when I am done these molds will work like new. everything looks great so far.

Derfla,
What have you discovered so far about the difference between an 8" version of the case & the 9" case? Any revelations there?
Do you have the skillset to apply some of the carbon fiber look vinyl to the side panels only?? That would be a cool looking case.

The only dirfferance between the 8'' and 9'' is the front end. I think I would rather try the real carbon fiber before I would try the decal. problem with the fiber is the price and I do not have a vacuume bag system yet.

Have you done a 9" front end piece yet?
That looks like the most complicated piece by far.
If you reproduced side panels only in Carbon Fiber, I think that would look really cool with the other pieces in black.

I have not done a 9'' yet, the mold for it was in need of repair (chips and scratches) I almost have it done. It should not be any different than the 8'', except for the smaller holes and slight ridge arround the holes they are the same.
I have made a few panels out of the plastic, it works great except the finished panel is a little too flexable (like a plastic trash can). looks like I will have to use a different formula of plastic, not a problem there are hundreds to pick from.
