So, completely unplanned, a buddy of mine suggests we go see Iron Man 2.

So i hop on Movie Tickets .com and away we go. We were late for the matinee, so we switch to the 5:30..

Get in Nice and early and get good seats... some snicky snax.... and whammo...

Previews...

Robin Hood... Looks ok
Prince of Persia... Looks good
The A-Team... much to my surprise..Looks like fun!

The movie...It was FUN! Visaually it was a knockout. Even though the digital projector was a kinda washed out. It was sharp and crisp. There was a lot ear candy as well. the surround sound was great and the low bass was really good. The story held up and other than Scarlett Johansen... the cast was fine

3 dawgz out of 5.
Thumbs Up

Just curoius, who is playing in the A-team since some of those guys are dead? I'm assuming Mr.T plays himself?

I'm trying very hard not to hate the whole idea of A-Team... Seems like yet another in a long strong of campy Hollywood remakes by people who seem to have run out of ideas for new movies. We'll see...

Back to Iron Man II... I've heard good things, and looking forward to it.

hmm, interesting. Not sure it willl be the same without Mr.T talking, but I will reserve judgement, as the previews do look fun. Sorry to hijack the thread!

So back to Iron Man 2, was it as good as the first? The TV previews don't show much.

Been traveling a lot lately for work.

Took the wife and kids to see IM2 this weekend too. Not bad... about what I expected. I think Ivan was underplayed... Hammer was the real villain.

Garry Shandling looked horrible... like Tim Allen in "Santa Clause" wearing the fat suit.

The digital theater we were in had a crisp line down the center... left side was dimmer than the right side. I was hoping it would only be there in the previews, but it persisted throughout the feature. I was wondering if they use a blend/stitching of 2 dPJ's.

Our previews were different. JJ Abrams/ Spielberg's "Super 8".

Well I havent seen the first one so i have no frame of reference....

The movie was good! I'm no fan of the Marvel movies. This one IMHO was the best Marvel movie i have seen up until now.

REALLY looking forward to this one. I'm a big JJ Abrams fan... Looks like JJ wrote and is directing, and Spielberg is putting up the bucks, so this could be a pretty kick-ass movie.

I just saw Ironman 2 in town. I asked what size screen is it on, got a puzzled look from the kid, but within ear shot was the manager who says, they're all on big screens. Rolling Eyes

I ask about format and got somewhere, oh we have it on digital on the harddisc in theater 7, or 35mm film in the others.

Good I'll have 2 tickets for the 35mm film then Thumbs Up

He looked shocked that I didn't want the pride of the theater digital Laughing

Anyway the flick was good, a bit slow with story at first but went on to be a good movie in general. I really liked the suit in this one the CG was really nice.

I think that was a completely mental decision.

35mm film is woeful compared to a new digital cinema projector.

Well yes it was, but I saw Star Trek and District 9 on the Digital screen and thought it was blown out/ washed out but very detailed and sharp. I liked the PQ of Ironman today over what I saw with the other two. It wasn't as sharp but it was more pleasing to my old eyes.

I saw Dragon (film) and Daybreakers (film) and they were both crap. Blurry, washed out, rubbish.

Avatar was SHARP. It had POP.

What is possible, is that down here, at the arse end of the world, our big cinema chain has just gone digital, whereas your cinemas were early adopters?

So I'm seeing state of the art, and you're seeing old tech?

That's a good question. the theater was built 7 years ago with presumably the best of it's day Digital PJ, and i assume it's still the same PJ. I'll ask next time about that, then buy the 35mm ticket anyway. Wink

Just got out of seeing it. Everyone did really good, and it wasn't too much of a departure from the first. I liked the first one better, and this film seemed to lack in a few areas. The charm and spectacle was what made the first so enjoyable. The effects and each suit was really awesome. All in all it was okay, but often times felt too cluttered.

Saw Iron Man II a couple of days ago.

I'd rate Iron Man I a 4.5/5 stars. Iron Man II I'd rate a 3/5. I found it tedious and slow with action scenes in between. Too man sub-plots that never really worked.

Remember, they are laying the groundwork for a group of other films...

Avengers Initiative
Thor
IM3
Captain America

So there was a lot of housekeeping being done....
