Hi,

I have two Barco Data P/Cs, R9000170 and R9000280, which seem to have the wellknown problem of squealing sound from the SMPS.
According to the 'Layout and setup tips' the only cure is to replace SMPS or main transformer.

The question is, which is the main transformer? I can see three on the SMPS board, a larger, a medium and a smaller.
My guess is the larger one, but one can not be sure.

Is the main transformer a standard transformer that can be bought today? One of them I could read a (probably Barco) part number 774142.

Can complete SMPS boards be found for low cost Wink?

Is it worth it? Well, I know it's old and not used much, but it irritates me when stuff don't work properly.

/B

It is the large one. Post a pix of the SMPS, chances are I have one that you can have for the cost of shipping. Might not be worth it, but I certainly don't need it..Smile

That is very nice of you.

Sending a picture of both SMPS. They have numbers 1012356 and 1013389 on them. They sit in R9000170 resp R9000280.

The SMPS in the R9000170 works 'best'. It squeals but manage to drive the tubes and put up a picture.

The SMPS in the R9000280 don't work that well. The red scan fail LED on focus board is lit, SMPS is quiet. It won't put up a picture. When I put on internal testpattern, it squeals, but still no picture.

When I put the SMPS from R9000170 in the R9000280 it almost works. I get picture for 1 second then it loses sync. The testpattern turns on the tubes, but it is more of a grey blur. I can be out of focus of course, I haven't checked that. It indicates however that the SMPS seem compatible between the two.

If you have two SMPS that would be extremly nice, otherwise it seems like the R9000170 have the best chance to get running properly.
