It's not news to some of you that VDC is now using Clinton tubes in Marquees.

Well, I've seen these Clinton tubes, both naked and in operation, and let me assure you, if you end up in need of
new tubes for your Marquee and end up in a position where only Clinton tubes are available, you don't need to
worry about the quality of them. They are quality tubes, fully comparable in every respect to the Panasonic CRTs
that have been standard in Marquees and other brands of projectors for a long time now.

While it seems that Panasonic branded tubes have reached the end of production, Clinton tubes are just as good
and will be available for quite some time to come.

I'm sure Tse will back me up on this.

They're available in both LCP (standard) and LUG (high res) versions. They are very equivalent with the associated Panny tubes.

Unfortunately, for tubes, sometimes their true quality is not known until some thousands of hours of use. Hopefully they will pass this test also and keep CRT alive.

Not in the market....new tubes installed....will cave into new technology by the time this set is used up....perhaps even sooner Wink

I'm convinced that a "good enough" alternative (damn close now) for less than the price of three new tubes will be available before these tubes are used up.

That's reality. I've seen the new VDC Marquee HD SSL6000, which is a 3 chip DLP with RGB LED lighting, at 1080p, and
there are very few flies on it. Its picture quality is excellent and the black level is more than acceptable. The Phlatlight LEDs
that drive it should pretty much guarantee that this will be a "set it and forget it" device until some component fails. I think that
the weak spots are cooling fan life and the limited service life of some capacitors. It's a 70,000 hour lifespan projector, at a
conservative guess. No lamps to replace. No CRTs to burn.

The end for CRTs is drawing ever nearer but we won't be lacking for high quality choices when it comes.

I found out a little bit more. The Clinton tubes are made on Panasonic fixtures to Panasonic specs. VDC got the Panasonic production line and Clinton is the VDC subsidiary that installed it and set it up and has resumed production of Panasonic CRTs under their own name.

Aside from possible short-term issues with the Clinton personnel learning any of the hidden tricks and secrets that may be involved with the construction of Panasonic tubes, which I tend to think isn't going to be much of an issue as the people at Clinton are well experienced tube builders, these should be very much the same tubes that we've seen for many years bearing Panasonic labels.

Incidentally, VDC now offers CRT replacement and rebuilding for ALL brands of projectors. The'll replace your old tube in your existing housing with a brand new tube. Sony, Barco, AmPro, whatever...odds are they can handle it.

this is what i got from vdc a while back and says it all.

The difference between LCP and LUG CRTs; the type of CRT to use is depended on the application. In summary;

The LUG (or as we have dubbed SIM) is primary used with a higher resolution (~2500 lines) with a lower light output. Typically a total room blackout or immersive environment.

The LCP type CRT is best suited for a control room, class room, home theater or controlled room lighting environment using >2000 lines of resolution and a greater light output desired.

VDC Display Systems (VDCDS) offers several options for replacing CRTs.

Option 1; Purchase an all new CRT assembly either fully dressed (Magnetics and shielding) or undressed (No magnetics)

Option 2; New with Exchange. This option is the same as Option 1 but VDCDS will exchange your used CRT assembly (fully dressed) with an all new assembly

Option 3; Renew with Exchange. This option uses an all new CRT with reclaimed hardware and magnetic components.

Option 4; Repair or rebuilt option. This option installs a new CRT into your hardware and/or magnetic components.

All options carry a 1-year limited factory warranty.

All options are factory tested and in the case of the of fully dressed CRT assemblies; these are factory tested and pre-aligned.
