|
|
The blue channel is exhibiting a strange behavior. It seems to be just on all the time but not showing an image.
1. I can switch the red and green channels from the remote but the blue wont cut-off. Looking at the tubeface I see that its just on.
2. When I show the screen for adjusting the static, the crosshair is yellow, which means read and green are working but not blue. Instead the rest of teh screen is bluish in color. the blue tube is just showing a rectangular patch of blue.
Given that the test patterns are not showing correct, the problem is not in the source or in the cables. Any ideas what the problem may be ?
Thanks in advance.

So I thought that maybe the signal memory has gone corrupt. I created a new signal entry and now the blue tube wont come on at all. When I go the white balance menu, it does the blue AKB line on top.
The projector shouldnt really be overheating, since the nights are still cool here in the Bay Area, so I'll wait and check again if its just a over-heating problem, in the morning if the problem has magically resolved itself.

Usually something in the blue video circuit has gone bad. I'm assuming the blue test pattern doesn't come up either? If so, my guess is that the video output board has failed. Those are specifically calibrated to each set, so you need to get yours repaired. I can do that work for you.

Since we have family visiting I thought i would wait on the repairs till they at least got a glimpse of a sometimes-working projector vs a non-working one. Right now the behavior is that the blue tube will cut off and then come back after a few minutes and then cut-off again. It keeps coming in and out.
Could it be a loose connection or is it symptomatic of a bigger failure ? When the blue cuts off, it shows a dim white pattern and doesnt show test patterns or respond to teh remote.
BTW, If you ever have a blue-tube go off on you- you can still watch ratatouille! the colors are so warm and blue is so little, you wont miss it as much

Like a car or anything else, running something that has a problem, even if intermittent, is asking for problems. Worst case you'll burn out the blue tube, so I'd get it repaired.
