|
|
A few years ago I put Nexus fans into my 9500LC. I used them in the LVPS and the belly fan tray. This was all continuing on HK-STeve's info from this fan mod thread:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10329039&highlight=nexus#post10329039
But I can't find the info on what fans I used? I lost a lot of Marquee files due to a bad hard drive a couple years ago. And the fan mods were all sold to a nice guy in Hong Kong in '07.
I'm looking to make the same mods again.
Help?

Ahh, nevermind. I was searching for Nexus but it turns out they were Noctua fans.

Hi Tom!
Yeah, I remember that thread. That heatsink area gets super hot! I just never liked the idea of doing away with the rear cover. Someday I may explore the idea of fans inside the chassis pointed at the electronics.
Nashou66, thanks - that will come in handy also.

Well this thread came along at a great time...I just tonight at work milled the fins off my spare heatsink.
Wow...look at this beastie! I think that's a Flux Capacitor dangling underneath it.
A quick search on ebay shows Noctua 120mm's going for ~$30, shipping not included. I'm tinkering with the idea of liquid cooling the rear heat sink.

I don't know that you need active cooling on the rear heatsink. Mine is running much cooler after adding the ground strap to the grounds on the stig amp and convergence boards.

Oh I agree 100%...but if you're gonna pimp something....don't wimp on the pimp!
