Hey Guys,
My PJ has started acting up. I'm unable to sync to an incoming signal without picture problems. Even the built in test menus aren't working. Here's a before and after photo.
As you can see the image has been seriously stretched in addition the picture is very unstable jumping around vertically a couple of scan lines.
I'm guessing it's something to do with the vertical sync circuitry. I've found a couple of posts on AVS where people have had similar problems, some suggest the power supply molex grip. Others say the CA(R/G/B) and CB(R/G/B) boards, others suggest the horizontal board.
My question is anyone had a similar problem? and secondly exaclty which board controls the horizontal sync, oh forgot to mention this is a Sony 1292.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brad.

It simply looks like the set is jumping to a new memory location that has a different height and width set to it. Your pix above look normal.
The CA(G) and B and R boards only have to do with the video output, not sync. If the pix is jumping vertically, I'd say the problem is on the V board, not the H board. Could also be on the Y board (CPU board) or any of the boards that the sync signals travel through. I do ahve a working 1292 that I can test boards in for you if you want to send them in.

Thanks Curt for the reply.
Yes I meant vertical
The images above are very different, yet they are coming AFAIK from the same memory location (the default) with no feed, and I haven't changed the default geometry (that much) since the before and after pics. The stretching is also apparent on the all white warmup screen, so much so that I can't see all the text.
Thanks for your time, I know you are a busy guy.
Which board is the V board?
Cheers,
Brad.

Finally got around to stripping the projector down, put it all back together and still have the same problem On the plus side, I'm a lot more confident about stipping the PJ down in the future.
One thing I did notice. In the Page Menu with the sync frequencies (with no source connected), the fv: jumps around between 182-184, any other 1292 users out there experienced this problem? I seem to remember before, the fv: would be solid can't remember at what though. Anyone care to post what I should be seeing in the 1292 page menu (Page 4) for the internal input?
As usual, any help greatly appreciated.
