I'm going to help out the guy who bought an XG here in Arlington, Texas, get it back to him in California. Questions:
I've removed the neckboards from an XG before, and remember that there is some gotcha that I have to be careful of when removing them. I think it has to do with one of the wiring harness connectors that plug into it. Any observations?
I understand that I need to label each neckboard according to which color tube it was plugged into. That's no problem.
I plan on mummifying the projector in large diameter bubble wrap, then taping it tightly to a pallet with labels on it stating "Electronic components, Fragile, do not stack" and taking it to Forward Air. Sound reasonable?

The board names are printed along with the related color so you wouldn't need to mark it but something more easily seen would be nice. There is a single (I believe red) single conductor wire which is likely the G2 that could get knocked off the single pin it connects to. Probably the most foolproof procedure would be to take a snapshot of each neckboard mounted to show how they were connected and include the file/print.
Otherwise to remove just loosen the screw on the collar and ease it off. You may need to raise the cardcage to give enough room to slide them off the CRT pins. To free the cardcage, first remove the back cabinet cover, on the cardcage remove the gold screws at the front corner tabs (close to the CRT compartment), two more at the rear, and there's 1 or 2 at the bottom of the 5BNC faceplate. You don't need to remove or loosen the large slotted screws on the sides that serve as the guide for sliding the cage up/down. Also, watch the wiring bundles as you move the cardcages as the catch on stuff or may be tie-wrapped.
