|
|
I don't even have the projector yet and already want to upgrade it.
Are there any performance mods for the XG75? Can any boards from the higher end models be swapped in, or would it require complete replacement of the internal components? What about replacing capacitors? The set has a 1998 manufacture date so i can imagine some are worn out.
Thanks for any replies!

Check the 'Mike Parker Mods' section. There is some discussion about XG mods almost being ready.
You can't swap in later version boards as they won't be compatible. For the purpose of replacing a board, some of the boards in other models are the same but you need to check the 'inkstamp' printed on the boards to make sure they match. For example, you can't swap a board inkstamped 2R4- for one marked 3J3-.
The good news is that the XG75 is as good as an XG135 for HT use. I'm fairly certain there is no real performance or feature differnce between them. The XG's do have 3 unique series however (for example XG850, 851, 852) which added a few enhancements.

Umm...no, it's more complex than that Jerry.
If it's a xxx1 or xxx2 model then Mike's mods will work.
If it's xxx0 then they probably won't. The neckboard is different. The gain board mods may work, no one has looked into it.
So, if it's a 751, then you may be ok. If it's a 750, probably not.
Honestly, unless it's an LC model, I wouldn't bother modding it. Get an LC version, or a G70, or better. Or a digital.
1998 means it's a 751, I think. It's basically electrically identical to an 1101LC (I upconverted my 751 to an 1101LC), and would be great as spare parts for an 1101LC.
