I am still a little undecided on the price point. But if I cannot use my screen I have now without hurting the crt tubes then I quess I should stay with digitals. It seems from replies in this thread that people are going to be switching to digitals in the next few years. So to make a new screen for a few years hardly seems like the right thing to do.

No offense, but you should be looking to get a better screen anyway. Most consider black out cloth to be temporary. You could try DW or painting the cloth.

Spanky is absolutely right you really need to upgrade your screen to something better whether or not you stay digital or go CRT. I was shocked how much more punch my picture had going from a 1.0 to 1.3 screen. Going from .7 to 1.0 will be similar. I am with some others on this thread. If I had to choose between a digital and CRT today and I was willing to spend $2k plus I'd be hard pressed to stay with CRT. That said I have a 9" CRT that cost me a whole lot less than that and it will hold me for several more years to come. Digitals are getting better every year and the price is dropping so I intend to wait a few more years at least before cutting over. Below $2k the decision gets a lot more complicated and I'd probably stick with CRT.

I agree with Spanky as well. You can find screens every now and then for cheap on local craigslist ad's. Some people off load their 84" or 92" screens to go bigger. Call some local pawn shops too.
As far as your current screen making it "unwatchable", I disagree. I set up my PG+ on a flat white wall and it looked "ok". No, it didn't have the punch my Elunevision screen has, but nobody I know thought the picture was "bad" and all wanted a full out demo. With CRT light control is key. If you have a dark room or at least can make it dark, you'll be fine for now. If you can find a cheap projector and can swing for a 1.3 gain screen, I'd do both. If not, I personally don't think it's the end of the world, but you will lose out on image/ brightness.

Current Projector Marquee9501LC with PS3 (BLu-Ray) at 1080P LOVE IT! Screen is an Elunevision 120" 4:3 (2.4 gain - no hotspots). (also own a NEC 9PG+)
