Hello All, my pj has finally arrived, picked it up yesterday. I now own a Marquee 8500 - pics will follow. Haven't had time to break it out yet. I will be asking lots of questions as I learn the basics of proper setup etc. Need to build a cart for it first and get it inside the house.
Very Happy

Let me know if you need any upgrade parts. I have color filtered 144s with the Joust Mods, and I have new tubes as well. Both are in the buy/sell forum. I just upgraded my 8500 to be a 9500LC, so I'm clearing out what I no longer need.

You mean like Nashou66. I take it that's good!!?? Newbie so I bought based on condition. I hope to unpack it over this weekend and take some pics. I have downloaded a manual off Curt's site and will read and take my time. Don't have a screen yet but I do have a piece of 1/4" plywood and a piece of white black out cloth. I'm thinking about building a screen using the Wilsonart DW laminate.

Hello Guys, just broke out the pj and got it in the house. One thing though I don't have any leveling feet. Can someone tell me what the hole diameter for the leveling feet is? It did come with tools and 2 remotes.

Should be 3/8" x 16. Longbows are built in "stoplite" configuration for simulators (tubes stacked vertically) so you have some modification ahead of you to enable normal operation.

Nope, no work needs to be done. All ready to go!!!

There is one thing you'll need to do once you decide on what resolution your going to run at, and i would try to have only one since these have a special peaking circuit on the Vim that needs adjusting. i was planing on making a short video on it and putting it on you tube. With this circuit it needs to be set at the PJ's used resolution, if you use different ones then you need to re adjust it and it is not something you can do every time. you will also need an extender board to do this so the adjustable pots are accessible.

here is a pic of the VIM and the Pots

You have to put up a 1 on 1 off pattern and match the vertical and horizontal lines in the box shape to the same intensity so there is no attenuation.

If you send me a ticket i'll come down to set her up for you Wink lol

Ahh if i only had the time to!!!

Ok Nashou 66 I'm lost!! You have me somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle. Can't send you a ticket to Bermuda but would be willing to pay for your handy work on the board - have no soldering skills at this level.

Hi Athanasios,

I have exactly the same variable caps in my 9500 Ultra VIM, but I never adjusted them. Please could you explain more in detail how you do it.

Thanks,
Diego

You could remove the peaking circuit, but if you want to run 1080p it really helps. As you adjust each color with the One on One off pixel line pattern you can see it go from sharp to unsharp and back again while turning the pots. it is really kinda cool. TSE says increases the bandwidth way up.

what is the peaking circuit.
i know mike does some peaking and i plan to buy 1 of his vims end may (tax refund), does this mean i have to use 1 resolution too cause that wont be possible without a scaler.

You should talk to Nash. I believe he tested his special VIM with that peaking circuit against the Super 02 VIM and would be able to give you a good opinion if you need it or not. The downside to that peaking circuit as Nash noted, is that your fine tuning it to one specific signal resolution and frequency. So if you don't have a video processor that is taking in all of your various inputs and only sending one resolution to the pj, you may not like the result, as the VIM will only be optimized to one of them. That is really up to you and your budget if you want to get a scaler.

I believe you have to trade in your VIM for the Super 02 VIM as well. You may not want to trade in that VIM.

By the way, I'm not knocking the Super 02 VIM. I own one and I feel it's head and shoulders better than a stock VIM. I just don't know how it compares to a late model 02 VIM with the peaking circuit.
