That can't be a projection tv. Those didn't come out until like 40 years later. I'm by no means an antique TV expert though. If it's close to you, that's worth a drive over to see what it is!

Wow, interesting. I wonder if it's pre-war? know RCA and others didn't do much of any civilian products during WWII. I have an antique Zenith radio from 1941. Doing the course of my research on it, the models produced gaped from the early 40s to the 50s after factories converted back from the war machine.

I'm a sucker for antique stuff. That TV was probably really high-end back in the day. It would be interesting to know if the owner knows it's history.

It's about 40 miles away, so I might go look at it and take some pictures. I do not have the time to restore something like this.

I used to collect antique radios and dabbled briefly in a couple of post-WWII TVs. The seller is probably right, based on the cabinet style i'd say that is a post war set. Not a pre-war one. Pre-war is usually worth $$$. As are some early post war sets, first color sets and those with very unusual styling. Usually anything with channel 1 intact on the tuner is pretty early. This set looks later than that. To restore one of these is really a labor of love. You basically have to recap the entire set and there are LOTs of them. Most of these sets aren't worth a whole lot but these seems a pretty high-end one so maybe it does have some value. Greg Eisemann has restored a couple of early postwar sets. I saw one at his house when I was up there. It was pretty cool.

That is really nice and if I was within a few hours I would be all over it. even if you pass on it you should throw a link on some of the antique TV forums, someone might give it a home.
