Can anybody tell me where can i buy the crt coolant in the Toronto area in Canada? I have done a google search for it but most of the suppliers are in the US side. I try to order one from an online company which cost $16.99 for a 16oz. bottle. However, the shipping cost is $22! I need it for my ECP 4100 tubes.
Thanks.

Have you tried MCM Electronics? Athanasios turned me to them. I found online coupons there as well and got it down to about $8 per 16oz. bottle.

oh, that sucks. I thought it was only the EU that can't get this stuff. Maybe Curt can recemmend a place? If not, I'm not to far from the Canadian border in Ohio. We could probably work something out and meet halfway or something.

I ordered ethylene glycol and glycerin from a local pharmacy and mixed my own at a 3:1 ratio, they did not stock the ethylene glycol but brought it in overnight.... they were very curious what I was doing with it and when I told them they werereally helpful and even gave me a couple large syringes that I used to full the chamber.

Now that's some out-of-the-box thinking! I would have never thought of a pharmacy.

Sounds like your building a bomb, no wonder they asked a few questions.

Base on the following thread, formulating your own coolant is not the way to go considering the time and labour of dismantling the tubes from the projetor, cleaning the tube face and reassembling again.

i mentioned it before that the crt coolant subject needs a sticky.
it would be helpful to put links as where to buy the coolant in different parts of the world.
1 other thing i dont believe in high grade and super high grade coolants.
my coolant is now 2 months old and still extremely clear but who knows maybe after 1 year...

The components I sourced from the pharmacy were USP grade, I do not think I would bother using chemicals of an unknown standard. I n my case I was doing a tube swap at the same time so cleaning the chamber was very easy Very Happy it was also a Barco and the quality of the chamber and finish might be more of an issue with other units...like the scuzzy Ampro the tube came from...
I did not find the tube re and re particularly hard to do.If I were doing this procedure on a unit that had a history of contamination I would probably have the housings powder coated while they were off, but even a really thorough cleaning with 99% Isopropyl alcohol would probably remove most contamination from the chamber-without needing to remove the housing.

You can try SAYAL Electronics, located at: 3791 Victoria Park Avenue, Toronto.
Several years ago I bought a 500 ml bottle, don’t know if they still sell it.
The name is MG chemicals High purity projection tube coolant.

The coolant should last many years if there is no contamination.
