First off you need to get the MEC 1208 mounting plates so the MEC tubes can fit into the Sonys. THey are hard to find, since not too many people have scrapped 1208 sets with MEC tubes..

Isn't it possible to place the mec tubes in the sony housing?

The neckboards are different also I think.

Are you sure you hare dealing with a Barco 1208s and not a 1208s/2 or 1208s/E? The big label on the top of the projector (bottom if ceiling mounted) will just say 1208s no matter what iteration you have. You need to look at the silver label on the back to confirm which one you have. The 1208s is actually pretty rare, I think I have seen one as compared to the older and newer ones that came before and after. The 1208s with Sony tubes actually has more in common with the older 1208/2 including the older "black box" neckboards (RGB amps). The 1208s/2 and /E have all the normal "s" model improvements as well as higher resolution PT-22 or P16s which have MUCH better resolving power. That said you could still drop 180DVBs into them no problem.

The BD808s plates will work just fine but you lose the continuous Schiempflug adjustments. Also has has been noted if this is a Sony tubed projector you will need to mod neckboards (RGB amps) for the differences in pin outs.
