Guys I've got a Hitachi CP-X200 LCD projector that's been bought second hand
with the "lamp" light flashing, indicating (to the previous owner) that the lamp
was dead and need replacing. Basically a replacement lamp was sourced and
fitted, but the new lamp exibits the same problem! I'm chasing a bit of
information, is there a way to test a lamp? as there is the option to get
another under warranty.

The other thing is I've got a guy who has a bit of testing equipment, but he's
not too familiar with digital projectors, and doesn't want to hurt his test
equipment hooking up to the connector from the power supply to the lamp. So does
anyone know what the operating voltage, amperage etc that a working power supply
would be outputing to a globe like this.

Trying to verify if there is a problem with the globe or the projector itself,
when I hook it up to a laptop it recognises the projector, and it spins up fans
blow etc...the lamps not lighting.

The Hitachis I believe have an hour counter reset that you need to do, the set stays off once the counter hits the bulb life end, either 2000 hours or 1500 or whatever.

Do a search on 'hour counter reset', it's something like 'hold down the menu button while switching the main power switch on' or something like that. I had that with one that I sold about 5 years ago.

MacGyver, Basically with the 'new' globe fitted, the unit still doesnt strike an arc in the bulb.

The unit displays the standard green power light whilst it prepares to start. from there the error messages start to happen.
Basically first the "Lamp" led light red, at the same time the "power" led starts to flash regularly, then after some time it stops flashing and stays lit.

So I suppose the questions are, from Curts info about a hard lockout with lamp hours...I can't verify being able to reset the lamp hours with out going through the menu...which you of course need the lamp on for. The reset button on the back of the machine doesn't reset any of the higher functions. Is there like a CMOS battery or something that records this info that I can reset? Or is there a series of "hold this down whilst doing something else" that will do the job, if infact it's the lamp timer stopping the unit from lighting the lamp.

If that's out the way, I suppose I need to verify if it's the actual lamp or the power (or lack thereoff) that's not playing the game.

I understand that it's difficult to test a globe, but what sort of power output should the power suppply be producing to strike and arc & then maintain it. I don't want to fry any equipment putting a meter on it if it needs serious voltage to iniate the lamp.

I have the test procedure for this. Do you have a DMM and know how to use it?


Oh, and there is no way to test the bulb other then in a known good machine.

DMM? digital multi meter...yup I have one, I'm no expert but I can take some readings, sure.
