Sheesh, if you ask your customers, they'll tell you $5 is the right price!
Since I'm not a customer, I can say the price seemed fair. I know that I wouldn't do this if I was not making some money on it. Don't cheat yourself down to $3 an hour for the work you put in!

Looks like a fun project...
but since it is not for a barco my interest is moderate.
I will say that any improvement over the stock case is a good thing. man those things are ugly - not Ampro UGLY - just normal ugly.
CJ- do not take my comment that way - but you do have a tendenacey to jump in over your head and then ask how deep is it? It sounds like all has worked out and the project got to someone with the skills to finish it.

I also do not want to offer something that will never sell, besides profit is not everything unless you are a Ferengi. If the price is right and it is still worth my time than why not. I am just looking for honest feedback.

Z, you are correct. I jump in first and check the depth of the water second. It's a trend.
But to me, there's no better way to learn to swim than by total immersion. It's the one reason why I learn and, dare I say, achieve some level of competency if not mastery, about a new subject, faster than just about anybody else.
When it comes to things that interest me, I have a badger's attitude. It doesn't always help me in the long run, but I do have my share of successes in addition to my share of failures.
I'd rather fail than not try. And later, I'll try again. Eventually, I'll succeed.

I don't want it to come across like that, but the truth is that anyone will learn fast if he totally dives into the subject headfirst and practically lives and breathes it. And that's what I tend to do with the subjects that interest me the most, particularly when they're
new to me.
Anyone could do it, I think, if they attacked a new interest with the sort of bloodthirsty enthusiasm that I do.
But there's a lot that I DON'T know, too. I'd be a fool not to acknowledge that.

Regarding the price, my opinions are as follows.
1) I've been offered brand new OEM cases (can't recall which) for $1100 and turned them down.
2) I think $1100 was actually a good price, it was just more than I was willing to pay to make my Marquee "look pretty".
3) If that same case had been offered to me for $600, I'd have jumped quicker than CJ dives into a new project.
4) If the same case had been offered to me for $800 with reasonable shipping costs, I'd have considered buying. Maybe, maybe not.
With that said, I have to point out that your cases may not be as perfectly made as the originals were (and they weren't perfect!!). I don't say this with any disrespect intended, but rather that you simply have not had someone sit down with you and show you how it's done. You're mostly figuring it out for yourself, so there are bound to be imperfections. So in this regard, I'd have to suggest that you start out with a pre-order at say.... $600 each. Maybe sell about ten of them for this amount. Then raise the price to $800 once your name gets out and people start talking about it.
But I will also mention that I would NOT buy any case, if it were not functional in the respect of air cooling. It MUST have vents in the appropriate areas, such as the OEM case has. I don't want to pressure cook my Marquee.
If things go really well and the case turns out very nice, and you're selling a few and demand looks to be increasing, I'd suggest working a deal with Tim at etechvideo.com to see if he might want to bulk order from you at a discount, and allow him to be the retailer.
Good luck!

The black case that you see in the pics is a factory case so the due diligence is being done to insure a proper fit.
Proper airflow is another matter & I have never seen a thread discussing the difference in airflow from the Pinanfarina case & the OEM "Mayflower" model. Great question though.

ROFL... I just noticed the flash at the top left of the drfla.com
"WITH WAF BUILT IN*
thanks for the laugh :lol
I'm just now looking over the website. I see your prices are actually right where I happened to suggest you start out at.

Man, the "seen" has got to go. Replace that with "saw" before people mistake you for a gangster with geek tendecies.
I enjoyed the "how it's made" pictures. They took me back to a time many years ago when my beer buddy and I would get off work, go back to his house and waste hours in his garage drinking beer and talking about nothing. The whole time he would be shaping surfboard after surfboard after surfboard, that nobody would ever buy.
I hope you have better luck with the cases than he had with the boards.

You NEED a "before and after" photo...
Something like "This is WAF on Marquee" (insert pic of stock 'quee and middle-aged house frau) "And THIS is WAF on DerflaCase!" (insert pic of 19 year old Pete model stradling floor-mounted DerflaCase 'quee.)

I was thinking red or blue, I like blue but I don't think it shows up good in pictures.

A brilliant TRUE candy apple red would be a great color for the photgraphic model.

Silver, white or bright red would be my suggestion. Or the color in the bikini directly above your post.
