It must be just me then, cause i cant see one bit of flicker at 72Hz or above!! Been a while since i used the Sega glasses, but i remember being VERY supprised at how there was no noticeable flicker on that either, on the NEC 9PG with a 125 inch screen

Well, a 9PG on a 125" screen will not be a very bright image which is good to reduce flicker and even ghosting. Also, if you are used to 50Hz than I find people are less prone to see flicker than those of us who grew up on 60Hz.

As far as ghosting goes, do you have a P43 phosphor green tube? With P43 you actually get very little ghosting at all. In fact, if you have a P43 green, than the red tube ghosts more than the green because the P43 is actually faster decaying than the red phosphor.

Thing I don't like about P43 is that the phosphor fatigues with continuous stimulus. For example, if you try and set grayscale with an 80 IRE window, the green component will continue to drop the longer you keep the "gray" window on the screen. It goes quickly and the change is not at all subtle.

Another example would be to put a white cross hatch up for maybe 2 minutes, than switch to a white field. You will be able to easily see a magenta cross hatch in the white field where the green P43 is fatigued. Go to black for a few minutes and the phosphor recovers, but it makes for poor color quality and inconsistent imagery that I don't like at all.

No mate its a PG plain, standard NEC tubes with no visible wear. Plenty bright enough in a room with no light though.

There is an XG in its place now, the PG has been moved to my bedroom. The XG as the standard P16s that come with it, no ghosts in any tests as yet. Significantly more worn on the red and green than the blue, maybe a 5/10 on the green and a 6 on the red. Blue is an easy 8. ( dont know how the previous owner managed that. )
