How do i fix error code 36 on a sony g70? It's the Vstop, the vertical polarity is not correct. Any help would be great.
Thanks

I understand now why you asked about my background draganm. I saw a post from Curt about a Marquee 9500 and its issues. When it comes to directions I follow them well. Also, if I run into something i do not understand trust me I ask many questions:)
Thanks for the help

I don't mean to be condescending either but repairing a G70 isn't like a Marquee or Barco where you can just swap a board and go. Check the position of the Vertical inversion switcxh and try re-seating the vertical/focus board. I also remeber seeing that code on a machine with a bad GB power board.
barring that e-mail Curt and see which boards he wants you to send in for check/rep-pair.

Thank you very much draganm. I will check the switch and try reseating. If it does not work, I will forward a help request to Curt.
Thanks millions for the help.

The switch was up and I moved it down. The error code 36 remained. What position is the switch supposed to be in up or down?

draganm,
Is there anything I need to disconnect before I re-seat the board?
Thanks for the info.

the switch along with the Horizontal yoke connectors, are flipped and switched to change the machine from floor to ceiling mounting configuration. Techman007 posted that having the connectors and switches set wrong can damage the machine? It's hard to say because the G70 electronics design, despite the fact that it looks orderly, is kind of mess. You can check the power supply's for any obvious failures
http://www.curtpalme.com/SonyG70_Layout5.shtm
but ultimately you will need to e-mail Curt and go from there, a board failure isn't something you diagnose over the forum.

Draganm,
Thanks for the info. I have 2 g70's, one working and one with the error code. I checked the configuaration of the Horizontal yoke connectors/switch and it is set in ceiling mode in both. I sent an email to Curt we shall see what the next steps are.
Thanks again

Draganm,
I tried to re-seat the board. However, the error code remained. Now I am trying to swap out the focus/vert board. However, the connector from the g70 to the focus/vert board is being difficult to come out. Any ideas to help with this problem.
Thanks

It will come out, the plastic housing is probably warped.
Also, I forgot in the email, there are two distinct V boards that will not interchange between sets. The difference is very obvious when you look at the two boards side by side. The wrong board will also cause a 36 error..

Thanks Curt,
Are there any notches on the connector I need to push in? I did not see any but you never know.
Thanks

No, as long as the top of the board is flush with the plastic housing, you're fine.

Yipee it works. I switched out the focus/vert board and the projector works just fine. Now I need to find another board.
Thanks Everyone

I'd repair the original. Some of the settings are matched to the set, and while you can swap, it's best to repair the original.
