|
|
As some may already know, my XG is a wash! I haven't decided what route to take yet.
I've been doing research and I'm struggling to determine how much construction I have to do to switch PJ's. The XG-852 mounted 160" from my screen to the center of the mount. I was a lot closer originally, but my bride wanted something bigger.
All I could offer was a picture!
I can't move the mount easily,(big framed hole in the ceiling) so if I have to, the screen will need to come towards the PJ.
My question is how wide will the picture be realistically with a 9500LC at that distance?

Maybe it's a snake. Earl, do snakes have fur?

I just set up a 9500, and got approx 1.3 X the width of the screen for the throw. That's a bit shorter than normal, with the width being at 75, but that makes really good use of the tubes. THe XG throw should be about 1.4 X the width of the screen, so with the 9500 you'll get a 123" wide image. A bit big methinks!

That's way too big. Even if I was okay with it, it would not fit in the room well.
If I have to go digital, I'll be okay, if I get a 9500 I'll move the screen or the ceiling, or both.
Thanks Curt!

So start from the beginning. What is your desired screen width?
With a 9500 with GT17 lenses, the throw distance will end up being just about 1.25 times the width of the picture,
with almost edge to edge utilization of the CRT face in 16x9. So the PJ is 120 inches away from the screen,
measured from the center of the front of the green lens to the center of the screen.

I was trying to determine if that is what I needed to do. What is considered as the sweet spot for the Marquee 9500 in COMPLETELY dark room? I want as big as possible, without sacrificing PQ.
I can't fit over 114" wide.
I have another question too, that just dawned on me. Does the 9500 project a different vertical angle? It looks like it's tilted more than other projectors.
I'll D/L the set up manual.
Thanks Guys!
