Not sure what you're asking here, but if it's about where to best ground an attached board. I've attached some wire leads to the places I would recommend. Not sure if you could make them all out from the shot, but they have been the ones I've used over the years for various test and other applications:

If you used the grounds that I placed the wires on in the shot, they are all good grounds for sure, so let's try and look at what could be causing a problem for you.

In that section there are both +/-14 and +/-5 volt rails. Both of those rails are either fused by the two 2 amp green fuses (5 volt) or two 4.7ohm (14 volt) SMD resistors at the edge right at the multi-pin connector. Usually when either of those rails are shorted those resistors will open. Sometimes they won't.

The best way to deal with retro mods when attaching to an existing board is to float fusible resistors right where the retro board would be getting it's +/- supply.

Th circuit you're trying to retro fit should be getting its supply from the +/-5 rails... where are you pulling that from on the board?

Yes, C25 and 84 are good safe points for +/-5 volts - C25 your negative, C84 your positive.

And the video connection (green) don't matter at this point.

It's really good to start with that value, but I'm not sure it's the right value for the board. It's definitely a safe value.

And based on the current that's on those 5 volts rails, your short is most likely somewhere else and not on the retro board. If it was those resistors would have cried out (smoked) to you.

retro board is the addon board mike?
could it be that the addon board draws too much current so the lvps error light goes on?
i have far more capacitors then in the original design.

I dont think thats it Dennis. i have added so many caps all over the Marquee and never had an error light.

Double check the board for any splashed solder across pins or exposed traces etc.

i found the fault for the error light on the clm and the 3rd led from the left on the lvps, it was a short because of not long enough etching, it was hard to see but i spotted it Smile, now i will test and see what happens with an actual picture.

A foil short might have opened a fuse or one of the resistors that are used as a fuse. Check and make sure the rails are good on your VIM. Good, bad, or indifferent video shouldn't cause the projector to not sync.

scott i measured the resistors and fuses and they are ok.
i am now using 768ohm instead of 715 (forgot to order) could that be it?
nashou suggested to replace the dc restore resistor r127(green channel) to 3k3 i have used 2*6k2 (i havent got 3k3)
i still dont get a picture.
