Does anyone have a published original price, or copy of an original invoice for NEW xg-852. I need something in writing and official for insurance reasons.

Disappointingly yes. I am working with the insurance company now. Honestly, to this point they have been great, including the guy I am working with on this projector. They sent a disaster recovery company in and they basically did everything. All that's left is the flooring in the theater, and the carpet in the bedroom.

The projector still comes on and displays a picture, sort of. I can only get one input setting to work, 480p, and the picture is jumping all over the place. It jumps around, and there is a "static" line through the picture that comes and goes.
If I change the setting it either flickers madly, or goes blank. When I try to fix the input settings it goes nuts too. I tried reseating all the boards and connections, but no change.

Are any of you guys familiar with Pratt Audio Video? http://www.prattav.com/

The insurance guy has been talking to them for advice. The insurance guy is leading toward a new digital. AND, before anyone goes crazy here, I personally have no issues with a digital unit as long as the PQ is similar to the XG.

Many people have been pointing to JVC late model units as a comparable picture. So I would consider one of these.

Any way, we'll see!

One thing you might want to point out to your ins guy is the CRT projector tubes can have a life expectancy of 50,000 hours and the digital lamp is usually 2000 hours (depending on unit). So I would also want 25 extra bulbs to compensated for the difference. Of course this also doesn't take into the fact that the digital projector itself has a much less life expectancy then the CRT. Food for thought..... Smile

And that must also fall into the category of projector image quality.

Tell them the only near comparable to your CRT P/J is a new VDC LED P/J. Take nothing less.

And we will be waiting for your reports of the new VDC LED. Very Happy

I have been considering all these things. I have mentioned an extended warranty, and a couple, three extra bulbs. I want this to be fair though. I'm not out to screw them, but I won't settle for less PQ that's for sure.

I haven't heard what the price is yet, but we know that the Runco and Planar LED units are $14,900 model 850? and $17,900 model 750?

So...

I would certainly look into it though.

Clay, I sent Alan Gouger form AVscience an pm explaining your predicament. he was a dealer for the NEC XG's so he might be able to help you, look for a possible PM from him on AVS.

the VDC 8 inch marquees are about 28-35K depending on options.

Thanks for that! I am actually eyeballing the Marquee he is selling. Although a Marquee don't actually fit where an XG went! I really am not looking forward to construction AGAIN!

We don't want no Delta engine, even less light, and less sharpness. Like I suggested over on AVS push for the Sim2 Mico50, it is only a couple of grand more;-).

$14K according to a thread on AVS, this might be excluding lens though. According to another thread there, AVS is selling the Sim2 for $17K, what apparantly is quite competitive. The other units, except for the Projection Design Kroma, are all around the $15K mark.

Actually I'm making 2 lists. One for CRT, and one for Digital. So far all the digitals suggested except the used ones are on the Digital list. All the Sim2 suggestions are there, and so are the JVC rs25 and rs35

LOL, He keeps waffling on selling it. last night I got a PM form his commenting on my recent screen shots and he said he might not sell now Wink Posting screen shots like I do is more to keep the CRT guys into CRT and to pull newcomers over to the analog side Wink

I hope Alan sticks with it, I might have to go over and help him tweak it out Wink

Would you consider replacing it with another 852 and therefore having a spare parts chassis? That would be cheap...if you found another one...

I spoke to Bobbie, at AV Science today to get some pricing on new projectors. Also she said she would ask Laurie, I believe, to dig up some actual pricing for the XG.
Does anyone know what a NEW VDC Marquee 9500 sells for? I'm making a list.
