Hi forum !
Short story:
My electrohome ecp 4500 died out on me a few days ago, with that magic smoke and all.
Some tinkering & digging later i conclude the HVPS being dead, all other voltages check out OK.
The tinkering involving hacking the hvps open and following the smell to some blown cap or resistor, but no luck.
So before i get me a spare suply and plug it in, i need to find out why this happened.
Either be it old caps or other componennts in the suply itself OR it could be a short outside in any of the HVcables letting it arc out to anything. 35kv really likes to jump, thats for sure.
Does anyone have a good story to tell about any similare failure to an ECP ? Do i need to check all the hv-cabling closly ?

It's 15 years old. It had had enough.
Nothing caused it to fail, it's just wear and tear.
I've got one or two good working units.
