If you look in my photo, there is part of a red car to the right of my projector filled Subaru. That red car is a 2000 Corvette that I bought new. So I still drive American cars.
My Subaru is for work only and I bought it new in 2005. When I bought the work truck I needed the following things: reliable, four wheel drive, good gas mileage, and cost less than $20,000.00. Subaru is the ONLY car maker that had an option with all my requirements. This is actually the third Subaru I have had, but I don't have any brand loyalty. I've also owned Ford, Pontiac, Honda, and Volvo over the past 15 years.

That's not bad Especially moving them into the house by yourself. The NEC I could carry in myself if I wanted to, but not a G90... even with the lenses off a G90 it still weighs over 200 lbs.
A 1292 can't weigh much less than a G90 though, can it?

Does the 1271 have decent handles? The G70 has good handles and I schlepped mine around without any trouble. It's 182lbs, only 20lbs less than a 1292.
The 8500 weighs as much as a 1271, about 140lbs, but the @#$# thing doesn't have any handles. You have to rope it up like an ornery steer to throw it around... |
Once in the house, I can move a G90 around using various methods One is to try and get it onto a cart. Another method is to extend the back handles, stand the projector on its ass, and duck walk the projector to where it needs to be. Or, if you are on carper, sometimes you can slide a G90 around resulting in only a minor hernia.
I actually put my G90 on the ceiling twice with no help... did it all by myself. But I did have ropes, chains, and pulleys.

The biggest I had to man handle in my arms was a little D50. I had it in the back of my pickup when it started to rain. I grabbed it, ran it up 14 steps and dropped it on the couch.
I was a little winded, I now know what a fireman feels like when carrying someone out of building.  . You know those painted handles are slippery when wet.
To move it inside the house I got a Duvet and dragged it across the hardwood floor. I extended one handle and used it like the runner on a one horse open sleigh to move the projector across the carpet. It worked well.

Yeah, getting it into the house is the big challenge for me, too. It means carrying the beast (by myself) out of the garage, up a couple of steps, then down a flight of stairs to the basement. Not fun, especially with the aforementioned trussed-up Marquee. Or sometimes I put the projector on a hand cart, take it down the sidewalk to the back yard, and then haul it across about 100' of grass -- also not fun. Once it's on the carpet it gets a lot easier, especially the G70. Those handles make nice carpet glides. Pick up one side and you can slide it all over with ease.

Yeah, really... Its been a lot of fun so far. I think I've done over 10,000 miles in the last 6 months....
Of course the G90 wasn't there until recently. I'm just sick I guess.

LOL. It gives the illusion that the curtains will open to a nice screen. Actually its only for a test chassis right now.

Its been a blast so far. I'll tell you though. The motorhome handles great but when we were going from Tennessee to SC we had to go over the mountains (great smokey mtns I think) and I almost didn't think we were going to make it. I was down to 1st gear and crawling at about 20 MPH. And its got a V10. Thats the only time I have been nervous and mostly because I wouldn't be able to turn around because the road was to narrow. The interstate was closed because of a rock slide so we had to take a back road. And it was like 2 am. It felt like deliverance, LOL.

Is that a gas engine? If so you need NOS. No joke. My friends father did it to his bus and RV. For the exact situation you just described.
If it's diesel then you need propane injection.

Yeah, its gas. I thought about a turbo, didn't think about the NOS. Thing is, thats the only time I felt a power issue. It fly's on the interstate. It will drop speed on an upgrade occasionally though. I've thought about trading it in for a diesel.

Guess you'll be looking for a Vutec, soon. Additional advantage you don't need to stack all three to get a decent light-output out of those dim 1292s  .
