Thanks in advance for any advice.

Every now and then "Projector 000" pops up in the bottom right when in use; any thoughts on what or why this is. I don't have the 500 manual, however, I did try looking through the 800 to no avail.

Also when in use the picture [via composite] will suddenly disappear leaving what I can only describe as a blank warped/buckled display then the guns will switch off. If I press the No.1 on remote or try the standby the image will return. (It's not like pulling out the video cable and having the no signal requestor appear.)

I wondered if perhaps it was an overheating issue or maybe a failing component, doesn't do it very often. (Thank God)

Cheers and happy CRTing !!

Paul.

Maybe projector asking address after remote battery swap. Press that remotes recessed button and then press 0.

Why composite? Shocked That have bad colors and very distracting scanlines.

Try with rgbs/rgbhv source (scart/vga) that will bypass decoder board and could help to blanking problem.
These gives also better colors than composite/s-video.

This is the remote that came with the Barco, although I believe it to be the wrong one! I think it's just some universal thing and doesn't have that recessed button?! But at least I know what the requestor now means, so thanks.

The composite is just a short term solution until I purchase a HTPC, I have all the VGA cables ready just no PC yet. (Paying off those Winter bills.) Rolling Eyes

But yeah, composite attributes are somewhat undesirable.

Cheers.

I want to make sure I care for my CRT correctly:

I used to always leave my PJ plugged into the mains, power switch ON and just use the standby to save climbing up to switch it off.

However, bizarrely it would come ON at its own accord from time to time. At first I thought it must have something to do with the remote control or wake-up on receiving a video signal.

So instead I started to switch it off completely for safety reasons if I was assent from the home for long periods.

When I recently powered it back up I noticed some settings were lost/changed.

1: Is the unit designed and intended to remain plugged into the mains and used via standby?

2: What would likely cause it to come out of standby on its on accord?

3: If completely powering OFF for long durations and settings are being lost could I have a fault, is there a battery that needs replacing, faulty EPROM?

I'm currently leaving it plugged in and testing to see if the issue returns.

Many thanks for any thoughts.

*EDIT* UPDATE: It IS still coming on by itself!

It's doing it every 24hours, I updated this posting 24hours ago and it's done it again now. :-/

(Wondering if there's a wakeup timer on this unit).

I've figured out what is causing my CRT to turn on by itself and at the same time most days.

TV/Projector: All of them!

Somehow I missed this thread, but yes, that can cause what you see. It could also be one of the two IR sensors being noisy internally. There's one in the front and one in the back. Cover each one with black electrical tape to see which one is picking up the noise.
