That seems a little high for shipping doesn't it? What do you mean you picked it up at the dock, do you mean New Penn's dock?

I agree it was high, thats why i went to the New Penns dock. it was like 190 something for door delivery, the dock is a few minutes from my house.

Look up galvanic corrosion. Not sure how fast you can expect it to happen but steel and copper are not compatible.

There usually needs to be some sort of insulator between the two metals. Might not be that big of deal to you.

Aluminum and copper do not corrode together id think, they use copper and aluminum together for electrical wiring right?

Handy having the dock close by.

As for the corrsion, interesting thought, I'm not sure off hand what factors need to be present for that to happen. If you're worried just wrap some electrical tape around the pipe at the holders and then reclamp.

Oh...your conduit is aluminum? Is this located in your basement? I don't know if the moisture in your basement will be enough of an issue. Who knows...just check on it in a few months to see if anything is happening...or you could tape the conduit at the clamps to be safe and forget about it.

Nice work. Yeah I can see the bottom isn't tightened evenly.

So next is to put a 6 or 8 " black border around the screen. Then you'll have to give us a full review of your $253.00 Hurley screen, what other screen(s) will you be comparing it to? I still think that is a steal of a deal considering how big your screen is.

Well I did some convergence adjustments, still need to make sure focus is correct, i can see the lower end is off since my old screen i had the bottom secured to the wall so it would not roll up, it wouldn't stop where i needed it to. that slight angle made me compensate the Scheimflug, so i need to redo all that again. But it is still useable, only slightly our of focus.

Well first impression was the smell !! Wink new vinyl makes me dizzy Wink . I now know i had a higher gain screen than 1.2 or 1.3 it had to be 1.5. I say this because I had to raise Brightness from 40 to 43-45 and contrast up to 65 from the 60 i had it at.

The smooth surface i lie much better than the slight texture to the Da-lite which I always thought was one reason i could not raise my contrast to high, it caused blooming, a sort of Screen blooming i have to call it because the Hurley
has not texture or gain it is sharper and doesn't spread the light out on the screen surface like the Da-Light. This does sacrifice light output off the screen but not too bad where a raise in contrast would not fix it.

One thing it does do better is help in the blend zone no color shifting is what attribute it to. I still have to match both PJ's but i think I'll get better results with this screen.

But so far I really like it.

Definitely a sharper image in the focused areas .

Drop off in brightness with original settings on the PJ. After adjustments still not as bright but overall a better image.

two Thumbs Up from me on the Hurley screen that is almost 3 times cheaper than my Da-light

Thanks for the suggestion Walt.

PS: For those who worry about the seams, don't. Its impossible to see them from a seating position even on an all white screen. they also run vertically which i think helps avoid your eyes tracking them as you follow a pan for example.

Hi Athanasios,

Well I hope you still like it just as much once you get everything setup and calibrated after all it still cost you a few bucks. Actually it was Bill Blue who suggested I check out the Hurley screens, I'm more than happy with the screen I have, so I just passed on his suggestion.
