Now remember guys he did not buy it for 280 dollars, it costs about 280 dollars more than what he spent on the marquee which if i remember from another thread it was about 1000 dollars maybe a couple hundred less, i am getting the euro's and dollar numbers mixed. it is a good experiment if was only 280 dollars, like the 200 i bought the Ampro 3600 of Ben for. but to spend 1000 just to see i'd think twice.
But either way the LC he will like better just because its an LC. Once i get my Tubes into LC housings the 8500 AC longbows will become 9500LC's .

The Sony G70 will cost me ~800USD (not Euro) + ~100USD fuel/gas. I Think its a good price.

I think it is an RCF 4200 or 6200. Because this CRT can handle 1080i@60Hz. The other CRT´s of this Series can even handle 480i/576i. Analog-Convergence.

How big is your screen? It doesn't look like it could be to big.

Of course the G70 is the better CRT. But there are no Worlds between a good callibrated 8500 and the G70.
But yes...it was a good choise.
I've exchanged the fans with the SilenX and I'm very satisfied with this noise Level.

I had a G70 a couple years ago and liked it a lot. It was my first CRT projector and the setup was far from perfect, but it was still impressive. If you can get one with low hours for under $900, it's a worthwhile purchase for sure. I've noticed a lot of G70s on eBay lately. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase one for ~$750 with low hours, zero tube wear, pristine case & lenses It would be a nice backup as I now have a decent 9500LC Ultra.
