|
|
hello,
This is my first post and I am a noob. I have an NEC 9pg extra and I am using RGB cables out of my PS3. So far the games and bluerays are amazing, BUT when I try to view a regular dvd the projector can handle the change in the frequency and the display goes into a jumble of scrambled green lines - I can't even read the menu for the projector.
Any one encounter this problem or know how to fix it?
thanks
Manuel

When you say you are using the RGB cables do you mean Component/YPbPr cables? If so then what you are seeing is normal.
DVD's are limited to 480p over component outputs. Bluray and games are not.
You'll either need to setup a 480p memory block or get an HDFury so your PS3 can upscale the DVD's.

Thanks!
Yes I meant component. I figured I would need to get the HDfury eventually.

If the PS3 is your only source you could go for the HDFury1 with the 'green' RGBHV cable. The PS3 has enough power to power the HDFury1 without the power supply. If you intend to use the HDFury1 with anything else in the future ( cable box, satelite box etc... ) then order the power supply.
www.curtpalme.com/HDFury.shtm
Your hook up will be as follows:
PS3---HDMI.cable----HDFury1==RGBHV.cable==projector

Hello,
I have a pg+ and PS3. You will likely need the Fury1. I just made another memory for Regular DVD's and it worked fine.
Keep in mind the Fury 1 has DVI input not HDMI so video chain is:
PS3 > HDMI-DVI cable> Fury> VGA-BNC (breakout cable) > Projector. (I also have the "Box 1040") for the component input so I could hook up my Wii.
Make sure you get the power supply. Worked really well for me. I'm guessing you have PS3 set to 1080i?

Current Projector Marquee9501LC with PS3 (BLu-Ray) at 1080P LOVE IT! Screen is an Elunevision 120" 4:3 (2.4 gain - no hotspots). (also own a NEC 9PG+)

you may have a faulty system board too..but if you can get everything down to one resolution via hdmi/dvi, I guess you'll be fine.
WHere are you located?

thanks for the advice.
I just ordered the hdfury2.
All my stuff goes into an nec switch with a component input and I want to use hdmi.
I live in kingston ontario. The guy who sold me the projector was nice enough to help me set it up.
We set up a 1080 input and i wouldn't know how to setup an a 480 channel so the hdfury will work for me I think.
