Wondering if its possible to mount my marquee suspended off the wall? I've got only one spot in the room i can mount my projector off the floor. While i don't mind it there it does not make the wife happy. there is a "beam" between the living room and the kitchen. i can get a good throw from here but the projector would have to be mounted almost free hanging off the beam. i thought that a mount secured to the bottom of the beam then tethered over the top to the back of it would provide the necessary support to keep it off our heads or the floor. any thoughts would be welcome.

I would also like to know how exactly that cross beam is made before canti-levering 160 pounds + off it. Hopefully it's at least 2 x 4 construction? Even if it is a number of 2 x 4's you should consider tying them together before pulling on just a couple of them on one side?
Lot's of unemployed Carpenters out there right now, probably a good idea to hire one to do this professionally and safely.

Hello
I would want access to the back of the machine, at least twelve inches if boards need swapping.

This is what I did...

I used really heavy duty shelf brackets on the bottom (rated for 150 lbs each), then used doubled up plywood for the shelf (1.5 inch thick with cheap trim), then used airline cable (stuff used for opening garage doors). All bought at home depot for $80.
Honestly though, without the extension arm, my chief mount would cost about $140 and would look a lot nicer (see my other pictures).
