Hey guys,

I know this has been done before, but the other day I compared a red to a clear c-element in my G90 mule. The mule just sits on the floor so it was easy to try both a red and clear c-element by swapping them and taking measurements for both. I put the data and a brief explanation on my web page.

Interesting Craig, I have seen some Marquee's with no Green but Red's what affect does that have ?

Below is a 9500LC Ultra with stock red and green c-elements. As you can see, the green is nearly perfect and the red is how I have shown with a red c-element. Blue is where blue always is on a 9500LC.

And following is a G90 with the stock light green c-element. As you can see, the green is under saturated because the green primary isn't rich enough.

If you have no green tint to the green c-element at all and it is clear, the green primary will be even less saturated than the stock G90 light green c-element. The only way to make green greener is to add coloration...

There are CRT phosphors that exist that can produce green for SMTPE-C (this is how in theory SMTPE-C was devised). However, I have never seen these phosphors on a front projector. And I have never heard of green phosphors in CRT that can come even close to Rec709 because the colors require much deeper saturation.
