Thanks Tse: now the mod is quite clear.
Just two more questions for who can answer (look at pic below):
1) in which way the wire coming from the soldering face of the board connects to each end of the three 680 Ohm resistors (red arrow in the pics)? Do I need to drill the board and take the wire to the component face?
2) where does connect the second wire (blue arrow) coming from resistor connected to R 127?
Thanks in advance.

Ok, I think I understood:
the green wire coming from the soldering face of the CVA board (P7, pin 18) goes to 680 OHM resistor connected to R 127 (blue arrows); from there, another green wire goes to the the other two 680 Ohm resistors, connected to R 327 and R 527 (red arrow).
Anyone can confirm?
Thanks.

Yes, thats how it's supposed to be done Nothing to drill - just soldering

Just an update: I made the mods to VDM and convergence boards and now everything is working as it is supposed to be...
I'd like to thanks everybody for the support and expecially Tse (Scott) and menec: without their help I wouldn't have been able to understand and then work on the mods.
Bests.

I just have one question: Why do you even want to do this mod? The expanded geometry capabilities of the Ultra are (as far as I know) of no use in a home theater setup with a conventional rectangular flat or moderately curved screen. You're doing the work but can't use the benefits of it.
Why, exactly, do you want to do this?
If there is a good reason, believe me, I'll be the first in line to do it. So give me a reason!

This is NOT about getting the extended functionality of the Ultra models, but getting back basic functionality (top/bottom pincushion correction) on an Ultra model without having the original Ultra convergence and vertical boards These boards don't work correctly without the modifications shown in this thread.

My thread started elsewhere but in the end it got "linked" to here (original thread - https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=22984.html ).
There are a couple things in the instructions that are not as clear as -I- needed, but additional emails with Tim and TSE got me on track.
I'd like to clarify those for others that may want to try this mod.
Prerequisites - SW v4.2c or better, DPB rom U7 v5.5 or higher. Fully loaded focus board - not the "half board".
The fly wire and resistor mods for the convergence PCB are well defined in this thread previously and I did not require any additional info to proceed.
Where I had some issues were with the vertical PCB, so let me clarify.
The "tacked" resistor shown sitting on U701. It is in fact 10k despite what it looks like in the pictures. The one leg is soldered to pin 9. The other leg goes ONLY to the fly wire - not an additional leg on that IC. The other end of that fly wire goes to IC U8 pin 12. The cap across U8 is 100uf 50v. The positive end is on pin 8, the minus on pin 14.
My board (well, one of them) already had the 0.002 caps (x3) linked to R712/812/912 which may need some clarification for others and I'm not gonna open up the PJ -today- to do that .
Thanks all!!
