|
|
Hi ,
I have bought a non working 1209s from the military depo, it has been asleep in a warehouse for at least 10 years. Finally I've made the picture to apper (a friend helped me). The problem was not so hard to figure out for someone who had to do with CRT PJ ---> quadruppler went down - after replacing it i got this kind of image:
any ideas what might be the cause of this "out of the face experience"?

This is somewhat normal when the set doesn't see an input signal.
The HV works, the line you sort of see is the AKB line.
When I see this, I know the deflection, the HV and controller is working, so if you have no picture, you have video issues.

So you say this is totally normal - pictures were taken before the startup screen popped up, then it became a little darker.
I got reasons to belive that the quadrupler stopped working because the set had 100 brightness and 100 contrast adjusted - when the picture finally showed up.

When I saw this on my 808 I freaked out - I thought the vertical deflection had failed.
But, it's just the AKB.

Every Barco I have ever had and they have been many, well not compared to Curt, has done this. I started with Barco's so I always assumed it was normal. Congrats on the 1209s. I have one and love it. Very nice picture and very quiet for a CRT projection.

The 100 contrast and brightness explains the wear on the tubes.
Someone just wanted too much out of hte set. Quadruplers don't typically go 'weak'. THey either work, or do not work.

What does AKB mens? :--),
The other good news is that the set has 2654 hours on the chassis! .
SO as You can see on the green - this is how it looks like - when you use Projector on maximal brightnes and contrast for 2000 hours. Heh'

I don't know, maybe G2 setting of the red tube?
But first try to give it a signal.
You say you saw the startup screen?

Then all should be ok and you should see at least a service menu when you push the "adj" button.
