I finally got my pj hung last night. In doing so I needed to switch the setting of floor verses ceiling. It seems that I will not get the logo screen if the long switch is pushed in. If out and the 3 others are in or out I get a logo screen, but if the long switch is in and the 3 others are in or out I do not get the logo? Any ideas?

Thanks
Steve

Is this Gary M posting under a new name? (just kidding!)

Check the scan fail red LED when the switch is pushed in. That's located on the G2 board, it's the only red LED on that board. If it's on, then two possibilities:

1) The V scan switch (the long one) is bad. Check to see if the problem happens when only the three short switches are in or out (H deflection switches) or whether it's just teh long switch (vertical scan change)

2) A long time ago I had a Barco 800 that had the same issue, and it turned out the controller board was bad, it went into scan fail in one mode only. I had to change the controller board to repair that.

I have any or all of hte parts in stock that you might need.

Long Sw 3 others
Out out Half the brightness on the logo
Out In Full grightness on the logo
In In No logo
In Out No Logo

OK, the unit may just be jumping to diferent memory locations when you change the orientation. I'll bet the 'front, ceiling' memory location just has the brightness or contrast set to 0.

Put it back in front ceiling mode, and then hold down the brightness and contrast up buttons to see if that's it. I'll bet it is.

This did help the one with half the brightness, but when the long switch is in I do not get any logo.
Switch bad?

No, that's very strange. If the scan fail LED is not on, then you SHOULD get a picture. :Sad

It might be an idea to try a new controller board, or send me yours for testing here. I don't think I have a spare...

Earlier this year when I was converting this pj from a vert to a horizontal machine one of these switches I believe it was the long one the spring came off of the front of the plunger on the switch. I put it back on.

I wouldn't worry about the barco logo at swicth on.
From my memory it only comes on if the projector was last locked onto an internal source ie a pattern
If it was last used in that orientation with a source then it should only display no source
Hit the adjust button that will bring up a menu to test orientataion.

Various versions of software will do different things. some may never display a a logo unless selected from the service menu.

Be real careful once that spring comes off as it will mean the collar round the switch is breaking down

As a temporary solution can I remove the switch and jumper it to prove or disprove that it is the switch?

Removed long switch. Put jumpers in place of switch being depressed. I get a red lite now. No logo. I switched jumpers for the other position and I get the logo and no red lite. Any ideas?

Thanks

Just to add some history. This was a SEOS machine. The logo still says SEOS. I converted it from a vertical machine to a horizontal machine by cutting loose the bellows and rotating them 90 degrees. Is it possible that the eprom might not let it go into front ceiling configuration?

Other than the springs, I never have issues with those switches. If the spring falls out, I heat shrink the switch into place so it can't cause deflection burn.

I'm suspecting the controller board...

Is there a way to know if it is the controller?

Not without swapping it with another one, or sending it to me for testing.

What would this cost for testing if sent to you?
