I just tried a search and came up with a zero for "Sony". Everything I try comes up zero.

I personally believe that eBay's chief muckimuck just had a G90 Ya board failure, and banned all Sony products from being sold on eBay.

"We were unable to run the search you entered. Please try again in a few minutes."
I got the same error before noon today... That was almost NINE hours ago! I was able to get a few searches in, but it alternated between working horribly slow or just failing altogether with the error message. I'd say they have a MAJOR failure on their hands.

eBay Outage Leaves Holiday Shoppers (and Sellers) in the Lurch
By Ina Steiner
AuctionBytes.com
November 21, 2009
Problems with eBay search on Saturday morning turned into a complete search outage by noon. Shoppers were unable to find items through searching for items or by browsing categories. eBay said the problem was due to errors in some of its backend systems in a post on its System Announcement Board. The problem is affecting eBay.com and at least some of its international websites, including eBay UK.
Users began complaining of the problem on eBay discussion boards, and users also tweeted the problem using the hashtag #fail on Twitter.
eBay's outage policy affects only listings scheduled to end during the outage or in the hour after the end of the outage.
Sellers are less concerned about listing fees than they are about lost sales. Outages such as these are particularly painful for sellers of auction format listings where a seller may be obligated to sell to the highest bidder even though nobody else could find the auction listing.
The search outage was ongoing at 3 pm PST as we went to press with this story.

Consumerist posted this:
| Quote: | UPDATE: 6:12 pm EST - eBay replaced its previous Systems Announcement posts with one at 2:59 pm PST that suggests a workaround:
| Quote: | | If you use the Advanced Search option at the top of the page, and type in your search query and click the title and description box and then run the search, the results for the title and description search will be returned. Likewise, if you receive a 0 results page for title search and choose the title and description box and re-run the search, you'll see the appropriate results. |
Does eBay think buyers are going to first of all, find this announcement, and second of all, follow these convoluted instructions? Surely eBay is not paving the way to get out of calling it an outage? |
I tried it... It works. Might be a good time to buy some stuff right now, since most people won't be able to find the stuff to bid on it!!!

Actually I was looking for a wheelbarrow large enough to carry a particular Marquee to a cliff edge and give it a nudge.
The Sony search was a test of the system. Can you see a search for Sony coming up zero.
